The troll looks awesome :yay: And I love the other conversions. Can you let me know how you detach bits from metal models? (Oh, I see the head for Skully is from the conversion kit?).

The skully is indeed from the conversion kit. As for the other detatching, I tend to use sidecutters if I dont want to keep the bit I am cutting (or if I will be repositioning and will need filing anyway) or for bigger pieces and for stuff I want to keep I use a razor saw. Gimli had a lot of work on the axe as it was moulded to his tunic and needed filing flat.

That's a lot of uruk-hai you have there!
just kidding, but like the others said, the troll really looks great, I like all your work! I can't wait for another troll, will he have the same pose/ armour? or is that still a surprise for us? :)

It is a lot of Uruks! I have 8 done and 16 to go!
The Troll will be a cave troll and relatively unarmoured but with a hotch potch of skins and fur!
At the moment it is too warm to paint so I am working on an aragorn conversion for the painting challenge after I lost my WIP photos of the last one I painted!

I have abandoned Helms Deep for a while but did a little vignette based on a few ruinous shaped pieces of polystyrene I have lying about. It represents a Gondorian ruin that is literally blackened by war and filth and is being used by the Orcs of Cirith Ungol as an outpost or command post. I used Mig pigments to get the muddy base. I am allergic to the fine dust but the sneezing and bloody noses was worth it. Sadly my camera is playing up so the images are very grainy. This has 3 more orcs to put on: an Uruk, another archer on the platform and a 'Snaga' carrying sacks of supplies. It isnt on the final base either. Size wise it is 4 inches by about 2. It has taken about a week so far, mainly to allow glue, paint and pigments to dry. Needs a few items such as shields and I am putting an abandoned minas Tirith breast plate in the alcove as well. Also, note the 'blood' used to paint the eye. Above this is going to be a couple of severed heads from the troll kit and a captain's head staked just above the platform. It is his armour the snaga is piling up.......

Beautifullittle vignette! It captures the atmosphere of the dark places, occupied and conquered by the orks (like cirith ungol or the eastern side of osgiliath) very well!
Also great conversions there!

Thanks for sharing!

That diorama is great! It's really atmospheric. The eye of Sauron daubed on the wall works so well. Very cool!

cheers all. I have a 'snaga' figure to remake as there is meant to be an orc carrying booty away from the battle but I have lost the figure (gutted). It is a WIP still as there are severed heads to add to the wall, the figure with the head on the pole will have a new pole addedand the severed heads he is meant to be holding added as well and the chipped paint on the wall, where it fell, will be touched up. I am not the best terrain maker but I recommend using MIG powders to weather up stuff as they are great.

The Gondorian banner is a ciggie rolling paper (from my smoky joe days)

Oh and the foil Minas Morgul Banner needs touching up too!

EDIT

I will not put anymore figures onto this one. Next up will be possibly the departure of bormir, but not using the amon-hen version but the plastic fellowship (just need another bozza!)

With my job not looking too secure and as a result not being able to do the things in life I want to do or live where I want to live and in a moment of illness inspired madness (have proper flu, not manflu), I cracked, flung caution to the wind and urged on by my gf, I finally bought a finecast figure from the hobbit line: Azog the defiler! Was simply stunned by the figure even though it looks delicate and spindly. It will be part of a small diorama that is no way inspired by the film so I may not paint azog as the pale orc. I may. Who knows! Pics will follow soon of a few new projects, one in particular: The Hunt!

Good luck with the projects. Will be interesting to see the diorama once done. Particularly like the general colour scheme you chose in the Orc Vignette. Fab work.
