I like it, although personally I think Wraiths are a staple in any Mordor army, especially at this point level.

First off the max number of models you can have at 1000 pts is 75, so you can drop some models and still be maxing out the model count.

I would also either take normal Orc warriors with spears as a second rank, or give the spear-armed Morannon Orcs shields as well (if you're paying that many points for them, you might as well have them stick around longer - against most Good armies D6 will be twice as tough to kill as D5).

Archery could be a bit of a problem... you've got 16 bows but at this level even elite armies like elves have the potential to field 20+ archers. Without the Shadow Lord (and I'm not suggesting that you should take him), this army will never win a shooting contest, so I would take an Orc Drummer to get your troops into combat faster. A few more Warg Riders might also be nice for some speed for claiming objectives, etc. Putting the Mouth of Sauron on an armored steed to lead them wouldn't hurt either.

Overall though I like it! You have a strong lead hero in the Troll Chieftain, lots of disposable Might, and flexible spellcasters.

Thankyou Gildor, yes thathas been helpful, i did think that the model limit was 100 but never mind, I have jigged my list a little using some things from your advice and I've come up with the following list instead (which is very similar) :

14 Morannon Orcs with spears and shields

12 Orc Trackers
3 Orc Trackers on Wargs
4 Orc Warriors with two-handed weapon
6 Warg Riders with shields and throwing spears

Your list seems just fine, I have never played 1k, have played a few 800pts games though. With an army as large as you are fielding, I might suggest getting a second banner, as it would probably allow you to open up a second front or run another shield wall, thus using your numbers advantage to its full potential! I would probably drop the Orc Trackers on War in favor of another Morannon Banner and spending the leftover points on Orc Trackers on foot. Or just drop the 4 Orc Warriors with 2hw and keep your cav intact (which with the Mouth leading should make for a very nasty, and disposable assault force)

Thanks, I just started to make some more adjustments for army mark III wnen I noticed that it, and lists one and two are actually 30pts over the limit, so I've readjusted it again.

Oh and the 2 plain orcs (previously 4 Orcs with 2-handers) are fior Kardush to regain will since I don't want to sacrifice a Morannon Orc, Warg Rider or a Banner etc, however I could swap them for 2 more trackers as if they end up in range together, I don't mind sacrificing a couple of them. I could also lose one wargy, uprade the 2nd banner to a morannon and then either get a few more troops or turn more spearmen back into Morannons. What do you think?
