They are all looking good! I love the Arwen in the green, she looks good. :)

Any update on the orcs from earlier in the thread?

Thanks! No, not yet. King Elessar is awaiting to join the contest, and then I have some primed Uruk Scouts waiting for their turn. But eventually. Gotta think a color scheme for them that doesn't include much red.

I am looking forward to updates! I am hoping to land a box of Warriors of Minas Tirith because I have no minis left because I have painted them all :(

Nice work Ares B. I like the Arwen the most, although I think her horse could do with being a little whiter. As it stands it looks like its been rolling around in mud :P

Thanks! Yeah, it's the light oak varnish I use for dipping. Perhaps one more drybrush with white would do some good.

Drybrushing would do just fine, but if you wanted to give it a shot, I would suggest highlighting. Water down the paint and apply to the raised areas of the horse carefully. It is trickier, but will get you a much nicer result.

I began making another piece of scenery. Gonna ruin another piece of antiquity, namely PC Gamer cover disc from June 2004.

Image

I glued on a piece of cardboard and some bits and pieces on the shiny side, and carved some lines on the cardboard. Then I sprayed the whole thing black. When it was dry, I drybrushed the bits with codex grey and skull white.

Next step is attaching the piece of wall and adding plenty of greenery. Maybe some more stones.

Thanks! Some progress here, with some granite, a bit of plastic foliage my daughter found outside, and good old dried tea leaves. Needs some finishing touches still.

Looks nice!

What is that pink stone? :? Sorry I saw it is granite. Granite is a very boring white here.
The foliage looks cool as well,

Three hobbits running from Ringwraiths in the woods, finding unexpected help from an elf maiden.

Image Image

They made it, Arwen slew one of the Nazgûl and the others ran out of Will. They got only Pippin, who panicked and ran in the wrong direction.

I see some of your models look heavy on the varnish. Is there a reason for that? You like the shinny look or for practical paint protecting purposes? (not that I'm saying that your nine year old is not careful with her miniatures!)

Good work btw.

Thanks! It's the dipping method. When I began the hobby last year, I read it's a good method to get reasonably good looking models for the gaming table reasonably quickly. And so it has been, though I'm afraid the light oak varnish I have is so light it does little shading, only gives the shine. And I seem to be too cheap to buy a €4 can of matte varnish... :)
