SBG 500/750/1000 pts goblin army

Hello,

I'm going for some goblin armies, what do you think about these armies?

500 pts/ 47 units/ 6 might (dwellers below):

2 Goblin Captains w. shield
1 Goblin Captain w. bow
12 Goblin Warriors w.shield
12 goblin warriors w. spear
12 goblin warriors w.bow
8 giant spiders

750 (in fact 740) pts/ 74 units/ 12 mgt (dwellers below):

4 Goblin Captains w. shield
2 Goblin Captains w. bow
20 Goblin Warriors w. shield
20 Goblin Warriors w. spear
20 Goblin Warriors w. bow
8 Giant Spiders

1000 (in fact 995) pts/75 units/ 14 mgt (moria & Dol Guldur)

Durbûrz
2 goblin captains w. bow
3 goblin shamans
1 spider queen
The Undying on fell beast
20 Goblins w. shield
20 Goblins w. spear
20 Goblins w. bow
8 Giant Spiders

Everybody is gonna complain about the captains, but I answered that about 10 times in this topic:

I don't wanna repeat myself about the captains - but how do you expect to win Contest of Champions with the 500 or 750 lists? How do you expect to win To Kill a King, when after break point your "King" runs away after 2 turns with a failed courage test?

Competitive Goblin builds for 700pts are as follows:

Spider Queen
Shadow Lord on Fell Beast
Durburz OR Captain
1/3 Prowlers or Blackshields
1/3 Goblins with Spears
1/3 Goblins with bows (half with spears)

Shade
Shadow Lord on Fell Beast
Durburz OR Captain
Blackshield Drum
1/3 Blackshields
1/3 Spearmen
1/3 Bowmen (half with spears)

Note - these also can have 75 out of 75 models, your forces aren't the only ones that can do that

Other armies are just not viable as far as winning tournaments goes. You'll find out yourself, but people have warned you about the captains

Oh and in that 750 list, you were saying how captains allow you to go over bow limit - well you're 2 models below the limit.

I like your 500 point list but I would put durburz in it though. Just a question why do you like having heaps of captains? Curious that's all.

i wouldnt worry about 1000pts just yet, thats a ways away

blackmist has listed some VERY competitive 700pt lists, so ill help u on 500pts
now this list isnt ultra competitive like blackmists, but i hope you like it (i put in 6 spiders cause i thought u'd like them

14 goblins with spears
9 goblins with shields
5 prowlers w/ shields
the spider queen
6 giant spiders

500pts, 49 models, 13 bows, 5 might (3 expendable, just for u BM

)

now your army wont run as soon as u break, you have great heros for contest of champions and to kill a king, AAAAAND you have spiders that should be lots of fun

That looks like a fun, themed 500 point list. Plenty of options to work with for pick-up style games.

Yeah, gonna do a tournement, and there is a contest of champions in it, so for that one, I'm going to take either the spider queen or durburz. But further on, I think I'm gonna stick to the captains. But thanks for help!

Give all the captains shields then, bow-armed goblin captain's aren't very strategic.

Why then ask for advice if you're not gonna follow it? Are you posting this for showoff?

Every single poster told you that captains are a waste of points in that number, some have gone into detail explaining why, especially in the other post. Therefore your army is either genius, thought-provoking and beyond the understanding of all other gamers (including a 2 times LotR GT winner) or it is just really bad and you're wrong about the captains. Your choice though

No, I said I know about what you think about the captains, and I think you might be right (it's my first time playing, and I'm going to try this, but of course if there is something like to kill a king, or contest of champions, my undying or Durburz will be in there!!!) the point is, how about the rest of the list?

The bowarmed captains? Well, let's take the 750 pts army, I've got 6 groups, 4 battlegroups (5shield, 5spear) and they will both get a shield-captain, then i've got 2 archergroups, (10 archers) so if I put a bow-armed captain in there, i've got 1 extra volley shot over there, and still stand fast. That about it.
I saw somebody giving me a 500 pts list? Well, it's a good list, but I don't like the prowlers, or better said, I like the prowlers, but Then I've to buy prowlers, wich would of course cost me money, and I can use some more normal goblins wich I already have, so spares me money. Sorry, but I've got no unlimited money so, that's a point.

I'd more like to have some advice over the rest of the list, should I take wild wargs? Don't are a real fan of them, but did someone of you played with them? If you did, are they good? And taking a lot of goblins, would that be ok?

Personally, I plan on converting my Prowlers, because they only have the models with the two-handed weapons, and I want to have all the weapons options. Seems like it shouldn't be too hard/expensive to greenstuff some hoods onto a box of Goblins and convert the spears into two-handed weapons.

just a slight change, also, you could remove the 3 wargs and 2 of the goblins for a bat swarm

Since we're on the subject, here is a 1000pt list you could try, again without prowlers:

Durburz
Goblin Shaman
Druzhag
19 Goblins with shields
19 Goblins with spears
18 Goblins with bows
2 Cave Trolls
2 Bat Swarms
Spider Queen
8 Giant Spiders
3 Wild Wargs

999pts, 75 models, 18 bows, 8 might

or you could swap the trolls and bats for 2 Goblin Captains and a Cave Drake. Whichever suits your flavour.
