I got black plastic spiders last year Halloween close out. I think they are rings. The green one is Reaper pre painted. The kids love them. If only I could find eagles.

These eagles look particularly nice. Lord of Edoras' wip thread was where I first saw them.

There is also eBob's eagle on this page and he also has spiders as you can see.

Yes they do!
I need some toy eagles Jennie is 4. She is careful for her age but the metal eagles are too fragile and she wants to play with the older children. The D&D figures are perfect. However I don't have any plastic eagles.

I pulled back the cloth because the Flocking and some of the paint was not dry.
ImageI will dry brush the rest and add flocking later on. The third tree is not dry enough. Grass and flowers tomorrow.

Nice 8) 8) 8) what about some extra-tall trees for a sort of canopy? Not too many to obstruct gameplay, but a few to give it that extra 'realism'. Just like the ones in that watercolour by the professor of the mirkwood gate.

fantastic tree-sections!
I regret I didn't bring some wood from my last vacation, I've seen plenty of sticks like the ones you have used, and didn't bring a single one (and I doubt my gf would have liked it if I did anyway).

And I so love your background in the entire scenery! It edges the battleground well and gives it a very nice atmosphere.
It gives me ideas to start a moria-background! A simple but effective background-wall. I must have this!

:-)

I got the idea from the Cyclorama painting of the Battle of Atlanta. The back ground adds atmosphere. Think of it as a matte painting in a movie set.You can fool the eye by combing painting and 3D effects. Thin and tall. I think this would be and effective way to do Durin's bridge or any number of things in Moria. I can not wait to see what you come up with.

I some how managed a double post. No matter I will edit this one.

This photo from the above link shows the model work in the fore ground of the Cyclorama painting that inspired me to paint figures and model as a hobby. There are few photos the Copy right is furiously protected. I think in this case a shame. The Painting is one of 5 surviving examples. The additional Model work makes it unique.
Of course I got carried away again :o
I should have justed posted a Moria photo
Image
I use the same back ground parts. Did not some one mention not to post on pain medication.

More theory
The background almost instantly converts to Moria or Goblin Town from Mirkwood
They are very easy to make and transport. There is less volume to store than purpose built boards. They never have to be the same. This is a large collection of parts but it fits in one store box. I hope that is useful
Thanks for the comments :!:

Is it just me, seeing Stone-Trollish shapes in these background pieces (left side of the picture at the right)? What about a try, to produce a similar formation with just some vague images of, say, three trolls, to jazz up your forest? The structure of your rock work lends itself perfect for such an experiment: just add an apish snout, the suggestion of a belly, an arm, a foot… I would love to see that! :D

More bark and detail parts for Moria and Goblin Town

I am still trying to find the third troll. The suggestion to add the impressions of trolls to the rock face is a great idea. I will puzzle with it some more.
