The special rule states: "The victim has all his weapons destroyed and is considered unarmed for the rest of the game". Wizard's staffs are listed as 'hand weapons'... Can Shatter have the same effect as Your Staff is Broken?

Hmm i don't really know alot about those new rules BUT I think this is where common sense and sportsmanship come into play. :) If this were true, it would be ridiculous, and I think we can safely assume that the rule wasn't meant to be interpreted like that.;)

First, its not a special rule, its a magical power and wizard's staffs are two-handed weapons

If the Shaman's spell was cast on a wizard, their sword (hand weapon) and staff (two-handed weapon) could not be used and are destriyed, in theory this would mean their free point if will would cease as well but the RAW don't say that, so unless you houserule it, that doesn't happen.

This is SBG right? I hope the points cost for this Shaman is higher than usual. I find the rules they've release for SBG for the last batch of models to be overpowering or cheap, IMO. The Cave Drake hero auto kill, and the unlimited range of the horn blower. But it is what it is, I would house rule these when playing against a friend.

I guess the Gudabad Shaman is marked as a high priority for opponents to get rid of first, keep your heroes away and out of range. As for the free point of will, I would say that should be right away eliminated since it's caused by the staff, but I can understand the rule description being a little vague.

Yes, it will destroy the staff, and yes he will no longer get the free will, as the staff is what gives the free will. (Like breaking his staff with the WK, he loses the free will)

As Avenger001 say's, although I've not read one report of these Shaman breaking heroes weapons yet (they have Will to resist) and have yet to see one at a GT, so they can't be that good.

'Shatter' could be so powerful...but you'd still get much more for your points with a budget Nazgl.

I think the main reason this Shaman is not often used is because it doesn't have Fury.
