you can have spear n bow but you cant have pike n bow.

you can only be supported by 1 spear but if a pike comes along the chain can be 2 long so long as a pike is the 3rd model.

e.g. m = man with sword, s = man with spear, p = man with pike
M S S
In this case the man gets +1 attack from the first spear but nothing from the 2nd

M S P
In this case the man gets +2 attacks, 1 from the spear and 1 from the pike

M P P
Also +2 attacks

M P S
+1 attack because the spear is too short to reach the dude.

You also can't have a shield with a Pike, but Easterlings can because of their special rule.

remember a model with a spear/pike can only support a model with the same size base (Trolls can support Cavalry :))

That's a myth, the rules say that only models on foot can be supported, not cavalry. And the base size rule is that a model can only support one with the same size or smaller base.

A Cave Troll can support a Morai Goblin, but not vice versa. An Isengard Troll can support anything that is mounted, or a Mumak, Great Beast, Dragon, Cave Drake or the Watcher.

Mumaks have much bigger bases than a troll, and they are mounts, which cannot be supported.

i dont see where it says a mounted model cannot be supported (it clearly states that only a model on foot can support)

Crikey, you are correct, I guess cavalry never get supported as only trolls have a big enough base, infantry and spear-armed. Never seen it happen in a decade of gaming LOTR.

Would be a funny sight, troll trying to stab the enemies over his allies.
I doubt the troll would be that smart to try that.
