I finished Fili the Dwarf. I used the 'Layering' technique on the cloak and the hood. I really like the technique but I've still a lot to learn, do some experience with this technique...
Any advice is welcome.

Really nice work on Radagast and Fili. I like your strong highlights from previous models and also your newer layering technique although a little more subtely done is awesome. The layering on Filis jacket and the grey (hood?) is awesome and nicely blended.

After watching this great video tutorial How to paint neutral skin tone on a miniature from Corvus' Miniatures I want to try it personally. Kili was my first victim.
Below pictures from my first try. I found the shading difficult.

Here's my second try. I added more water to the shading paint mix. The result is better but I still have to learn/practice more.

C&C are welcome.

It's looking good. But my first thought was: why does this dwarf wear sunglasses?? ^^ I'd either lighten up your base skin tone a bit, or town it down more with the layers of lighter colours.
I know that eyes are the hardest parts on most of the minis and they still look pretty good :)
Are you going to give him a beard shade?

Correct the eyes are too dark, so I can fix them by adding some layers of skin colours around them.
Yes I I'm going to give him a beard, any tips/ideas?

I've tried to fix Kili's eyes. I find the result better.

Any tips how to paint his beard?

Below some pictures of the hood-undercloak where I tried the layering technique:

I finished painting Kili. I used this miniature to practice on my layering/highlighting technique.

Narzug WIP:
I started painting the skintone. It's a dark brown skintone and I used the layering technique. I'm very happy with the result. I now can see my personal progress but any comment and tips are welcome.
