If the captain of a warband is killed do you carry on playing with whats left of the warband or is there a courage test type action because of this?

No, you just carry on playing regardless. Interesting idea though...

I remember someone trying to argue this at a GT once  was adamant that warbands had to take courage tests once the hero was dead. But sid is right, the game continues on as normal.

As far as I'm aware, warband rules are for army construction and deployment only. You can have your troops move, shoot and fight any way you want, regardless of warbands.

That sort of mechanic works well for squad based games (Flames of War has some similar concepts for example) but not for a skirmish scale game. The movement of the units are far too fluid and it would be very cumbersome to keep track of which of your 40 Goblins, for example, belonged to a specific Captain's warband.

Thanks guys, I just couldnt see any reason why youd have a Cap but the deployment rules and ally rules make sense.
