Hi folks, just wanted to share some miniatures I've recently painted. I have some Rohan Command to get through and began with the Kings Huntsman. I've painted him up as Arathorn though for use with my Arnor force.
wip shots...

Undercoated black, dry brushed with codex grey and skull white.

Armour - Badab Black

Image
Armour - Boltgun metal glaze.

Image
Armour - thinned Delvan Mud wash, dry brush boltgun metal.

Image
Graveyard Earth glaze, concentrating pigment in shaded areas. small amount of bleach bone was added for mid tones and a smaller amount of white for highlights.

Image
Another Graveyard earth glaze.

Image
Belt - chaos black and scorched brown glaze.
Green clothes - codex grey and loren forest, skull white for highlights, Catachan Green was used to shade.

Image
a heavy glaze of codex grey was used on his sleeves.

Image
Skin - Tallarn flesh, tallaran and skull white towards highlights, thinned ogryn flesh.

Image
Hair - Scorched brown glazes, dark flesh glaze, chaos black and scorched brown mix for shading...

Image
...metal details on the sword and helmet were given a watered down wash of citadel brown ink and the chain mail was given a dry brush of mithril silver. A watered down mix of chaos black and scorched brown was used to darken and divide certain areas.

Undercoated this guy almost a decade ago and painted him just before I started on the Kings Huntsman. I also used a wet palette for the first time with this piece and it was so handy I have continued using one.

These are both excellent! Gandalf is especially good - the white is beautifully smooth!

Awesomely painted! I really like how the scale armour on the huntsman is slightly different in colour from the chain mail.

You should make an article on painting that Huntsman by the way! ;) You're already mostly done too.

Gandalf is also superbly painted. The white has turned out great. I know how hard it is to get white right!

I like how you approached the Huntsman. Very nice natural tones. Your Gandalf though is excellent! Keep us updated with your work.

Brilliant work. I'd like to hear more about the wet palette you used please as I have been thinking of getting one but the ones in the art shop are huge.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

The last time someone asked me to write an article I told them I would, but never did....I cant promise anything but If I manage to write something I'm happy with I'll submit it for proof reading.

I put a flat sponge in a plastic dinner tray and poured water in until the sponge was almost submerged, then put a piece of grease proof (baking) paper over the sponge to stop the paint from bleeding into the sponge and water. thats it.
I don't think you need to buy anything costly for it, once you have a shallow container that holds water your half way there.

Just painted the base on the Huntsman to finish him and got one of these Vivid Toys miniatures to see how painting one would go.

The skin looks great! I would leave it, just keep going and see how it turns out. I agree, perhaps adding some colour to his hair and around the face with his clothes will make him look younger. It might just be that the skin looks washed out because of it's surroundings.

You have a lot of courage to paint something that scale! Although I'm no specialist at this scale I think the skin could use a lot more contrast. You have much more room to blend from dark to light: use this extra space!

garmenhord, goblin_king, yer right. I should paint the hair and some of the clothes first to see how it all works together, then as Corvus suggested I'll try work on the contrast when I have a better idea of how its all turning out.

thanks guys
