Chris, apologies for not replying sooner, thank you :)

Two more Rohan Commanders...
Image
This was a bad cast that had a few parts missing and took forever to undercoat. I tired undercoating with Chaos Black which just pooled into spots on the mini. I got some GW technical black paint which was better but some of the gaps and recesses of the sculpt where so fine and deep it took for ages to spot them all. I also failed to notice that the tip of his noise is missing along with facial hair thats suppose to be on his chin. A difficult piece from the start but happy to have this much done, I nearly gave up on it.

Image
I lost his right arm so had to make another using a cast of the Kings Huntsmen arm. The sword was cut from a WHFB Empire State Troop banner decoration.

Ranger conversion
Image
The flag and grips are made from Sculpey, the flag is attached to the wire with GS. Theres also a War Horn to go under his left arm.

Done a small bit on Bilbo too...
Image

Finally, Grimdalf from Hasselfree Miniatures who takes Floi's stead in my dwarf force...

Wow, Bilbo's face looks so realistic. The conversions look suberb too :yay:

That is the second time I have seen Grimdalf, he still looks funny  Your painting is superb however. 8)

I missed this WiP initially so I'm glad I came into it this time. Really awesome job on the Huntsman. I love your technique and results. Thank you for sharing in such detail.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback, especially on Bilbo, before I put the brush down I couldn't tell if his face was any better or not from staring at it for so long. I'll probably paint one of the two remaining commanders next and move onto Biblos clothes after. I'm also going to try sculpt some detail on the War Horn thats going on the Ranger conversion.

I got two Colour Shapers also, a Taper Point and Cup Chisel and I've made a wire frame thats about the size of a Dweller in the Dark to mess around with.

For his sleeves and hood two coats of watered down Graveyard Earth/Steel Legion Drab where used for the base colour and then Bleached Bone/Ushabti Bone for highlights.
Shading was done by painting in the recesses with a heavily watered down mix of Scorched Brown and Chaos Black. Delvan Mud is good too.

The clothes under his scale armour is a mix of Codex Grey/Dawn Stone and Knarloc Green/Loren Forest. Skull White/White Scar was gradually mixed in for subtle highlights. Watered down Catachan Green/Castellan Green was used to shade.

No, not for warriors anyway. I'm converting this one to represent Halbarad, sorry, should have mentioned that before :)

Grimdalf is a great mini - I like the painting! Nice conversions and showing a lot of flair for getting around any problems like missing pieces. Well done!

Bilbos face is the star attraction. Fabulous work and a dab hand with the photography.

Thanks guys :)

Finished putting together the ranger conversion, I considered sculpting some banner detail, like a little star or something but thought I'd try some free hand there instead.

Started the Dweller sculpt. Still a good bit to go but here's how its looking so far...

His other arm needs a hand and claws and the raised hand needs a thumb but I'm not sure what to do with the feet, add claws?, hooves?, molten lava? flaming claw hooves stepping out of lava ?
