I have a question on Bifur the Dwarf, his battle damaged states that once he is reduced to 1 Wound he gets his free heroic action each turn.

My question would be that as the rule for Bifur states that once this occurs he gains the special, would he still be able to use it if I had Oin heal him as the condition had previously been met?

The rules state that "Once Biffur is reduced to one wound he may use a single Heroic Action for free", if Oin has restored his lost wound, he no longer has "one wound" but tow, and hence cannot "use a single Heroic Action for free" now having two wounds.

It is worth remembering that he does not have to use his single fate point to try and save the first wound he looses!

Bilbo - it doesn't say "When he has only 1 wound...", it says "Once he is reduced to 1 wound...". As I said, the rules as they are written, means that he continues even once healed (as it's a once-off occurence that triggers a continual effect). the rules as intended are more likely to be what you've suggested (I.E. It's only when he's pretty much dead that he gets the ability).

I think that your splitting hairs there, reduced means to have less and suggests that the situation is reliant upon that fact!

That's the difference between RAW and RAI. Yes they obviouslty didn't mean for him to be able to have the free heroic when he whas more than 1 wound, but as it's written right now that can happen.

I'm not splitting hairs - there's a difference between "once" down to 1 wound and "whilst" at one wound.

But we're agreed it probably means whilst instead of once.

Yes I can see your point, I suspect that we are all agreed on the original intention of him needing a bit of paint to give the edge (aka going mental when wounded) when down to one wound.

In this case I prefer RAW.

Once Bifur takes a wound, the adrenaline keeps him running all day. Why not that as the intent? Unless a contrary intent is really clear we should use the rule as actually written. A contrary intent is possible here, but I don't think either interpretation is clearly inappropriate.

Ever had a close call on the road? Your heart is thumping for a good long time afterwards independently of your lack of injury.

other potential problem
in that rule it states no other model may benefit from his heroic action
however I fail to see how that would be possible in the instance where he and other good models are fighting 1 enemy, and bifur calls a heroic strike?

I take that to mean no other model can be a part of his heroic move/march/or shoot.

Another model in the same fight as him isn't directly affected, nothing about Bill the Dwarf warrior has changed when Bifur's Fight value goes up. Sure he's indirectly affected, but every model is indirectly affected every time anything on the board changes.

Heroic fight isn't as clear to me, I'd say if Bifur and friends kill everyone in base contact, only Bifur moves and fights again.

As above. Also, having seent he actual entry for Bifur now, I'm more inclined to say RAW is correct - the fluff (which doesn;t help in-game, but muh) states that he goes mental if it gets touchd. It gets toouched, he goes mental, he gets a bit less scratched up, but it still got touched...
