I remember for example, that they used painted pins for small flowers or pot flowers, which looked great and is cheap at the same time!

Thanks mate, I'm sure it will come in useful. I seem to recall the pin flowers so I must have seen it at some point. For now though, enjoy your travels.

Those who know me will know i like to take things down a different road and this will be no different it seems.
Research can be an interesting thing and I've looked into Bag Ends gardens.
At first I didn't realise there was a back door to the far left as you look. John Howe had designed one that was never built, being a conventional door set in a round arch. Through this back door led you nearer the kitchen area. So back out the back door and your in the kitchen garden complete with rows of fresh veg and a well.
Can you see how my minds going. Well if not I found this original John Howe sketch. Im looking at incorporating the gardens if I have room. It may meaning moving the front on Bag End more into the far corner of the base.

I posted some photos last summer of the Girl's flower factory

They are gluing the saw dust flowers to small bits of clump foliage

These are very useful videos.below You can use hair or nylon fibers as well. I don't care for his colors. They are more appropriate for the Children's TV show Phil made them for. I also use a fine sifter for 28mm scale sawdust flock and flowers.

Never did like this miniature when Games Workshop released it, too much like a leprechaun for my liking, however I think you have done an outstanding job on him. Many people paint him in bright colours, but I like the way you have toned them down.
Look forward to seeing it withthe base completed.

I like they way you have achieved red cheeks naturally. Very often we see two bright red balls on Tom's cheeks. :-)

Your painting is outstanding as always. 8)

Are you going to do the interior of Bag End?

I mixed Scab Red and Blood Red then heavily watered it down to perhaps ten parts water to one part paint. I concentrated on drawing the brush toward the nose as that's where I wanted the brighter colour.

I won't be, though I'm toying with some lighting. This will be a gift for my mum so I'm considering an outside light or two with an internal light. The glass maybe opaque so you don't see inside, just the glow from inside.

Thanks to everyone else for their kind words. I hope to have this based by the weekend and will update the finished Tom.

So i am still playing with photos having just got a Macbook Im playing about a bit.
Hopefully you will see a better photo than previous but I need to sort out a stable way of taking the photo, at least I can use my camera now.
As for the figure i have had an experiment at making my own flowers. This is purely a test for my Bag End diorama. Ive got links to some great stuff that Noch produce but I wanted variation as most of Nochs stuff looks about face size to a 28mm mini. That isn't an issue but hence I go back to my point of wanting the variation.
So your feedback is once again greatly sought.

First I have to say the grass on the base is as good as I have ever seen. The flowers look nice too. Are they some you made?

Most of the rail road supplies come in Ho gage,a little small for our scale.
O gage or toy scale is very close to War Hammer scale. O scale flowers are a bit large but will pass for scenery. HO sun flowers might work. Secret weapon has photo etched flowers that are scaled for 28mm. They are aimed at figure painters. I do not have the web site. I saw them at Cool Mini or not Expo in Atlanta. They may have a link. I am sure David sells them.
For the Bags end project I think you will enjoy making flowers. Phil the South American puppet maker has some good you tube set building videos that are helpful. I like his grass making video the best. His home made tools are very cool
