Bag End looking even better!

I would hate to think were some have worked on the hobby. Some may not make censorship !!!

So epic mate. I bet your dead proud of yourself!

Thanks Han and yes I am pleased. There's a lot more flowers on it now and the fence is in place and base coated. With the fence in place it has certainly given it that, it's a home feel.

Here we have my latest update. As you can see I have completed the fence and gate. I am really pleased with how this turned out.
I wasn't happy using the garden wire as it had a thin run of wire down the middle which wouldn't look great when painted. So I opted for thin pieces of thick card. I cut lengths in 2mm thickness and then once again patience was the key. Weaving this between the posts and gluing it in place didn't happen straight away but some perseverance got me there.
I painted it up and then went about sticking the various foliage in place.
The gate was just carefully cut balsa wood that was glued together.

Heres the centre divide between the kitchen garden and the formal garden.

A view from above the front door

Image

And down toward the front gate

Image

Ive got some ivy that I've started to dot it about

Image

And finally the plants that intersect the two gardens

I hope you like the progress. The main thing I'm working on is the detail now. With the acception of the area beneath the front wall I will be working on things like benches, bird boxes, letter box, door handles and so on.

This is awesome, but where are you planning on displaying it? It is getting quite large!

loving it, come on here everyday to check for an update, one thing i dont know if you were gunna add anyway but i think that possibly the main thing that sets bag end apart from the rest is the gate and sign, would be immense if this was added, nothing tricky other then printing it off small enough but simply detail like that gives pieces a realistic touch 8)

I haven't really looked into it the sign too much other than considering it. I will probably go for it as I work through the fine details.

Gorgeous modelling. So good I would be terrified to go near it in case something was damaged. I like the idea for the party notice - you will need a good quality printer and shrink the image of the sign down to scale.

Life has been a bit busy of late so I haven't touched this in two weeks. I've got some more done today though, concentrating on the detail.

First up is the front gate which now has a mail box and a bench

Image

I've added a bird house to the formal garden

Image

And another bench

Image

And finally this is just to right of the pond. I've made a young sampling from a root from the garden.

Image

Would you believe I am just about finished with the construction but I'm leaving update photos of the full thing until the very end.
I'm now starting to work on the figures that will be included, Bilbo, Sam and Frodo.

Ah yes, you remember I mailed you about the conversions. Well I've managed to get Sam filed down and looking like he's wearing a jacket. There was too much around the arms for me to try for a waistcoat , but it seems to look ok.
For those who don't know, I'm using the captured by Gondor Sam and Frodo for this diorama. They both have cloaks that need removing, hence I asked Dave for his advice.

Do you have any plans for bag end? I am desperate to do one, but can't find any schematics/plans for the hobbit hole!

If you have some, I would really appreciate a copy, so could you PM me so can send my email address?
Many thanks in advance

Leo

The one I used is on the internet. Just put in bag End floor plan and it brings up loads, including the one Weta produced.
If you have any difficulty then let me know.
