hi, I'm very new to this game and have only recently started playing with my friends who have more experience than i do. i have only played against Gondor armies and briefly against dwarfs and i can beat them if i think about it. soon i will be playing for the first time against my friend who plays a self-styled dark elf army( he uses palace guard models and high elf statistics). i have never fought elves before and i know little-to-nothing about their ability. this is my army list below:

Angor the slaughterer
(Mordor Uruk-hai captain with shield)

9 Mordor Uruk-hai with great-swords

8 Mordor orcs with swords and shields

8 Mordor orcs with spears

4 Mordor orcs with great-swords

4 Mordor orcs with orc-bows

i need help with anti-elf tactics using what i have, war band organization, and general understanding of my enemy. i do not have a great deal of money and so i cannot expand further on my horde. any tips?

Someone else with more experience will probably have a better more detailed response however the simple 'tactic' to use with mordor vs high elves is NUMBERS. You will more than likely nearly double his numbers so use that to your advantage and surround him, flank him and generally try to get behind him, you want 2 of your orcs in combat with 1 of his elves everytime and this way through sheer weight of rolls you should win. And please dont go shield wall against shield wall, that would be ridiculous with his higher fight value. Simply hit him from the front, side and eventually behind

i have face plenty of high elven warriors with my goblin armies, do something like what rigg1313 said. I have found, however, that these elven armies will shoot any turn they can. So i would use your orcs as the sponge for the arrows and have your uruks come in from the side or simply behind the orcs. You need to make it seem like those orcs are more of a threat.

I would have to agree with rigg1313 on this subject. Surrounding your opponent will be crucial for this battle. More than likely your opponent will be fielding thranduil if he is fielding palace guards because that will then make them outclass any hero or warrior you have on the field. So if you have a ton of orcs to his few elves, he will likely shield wall and try to either hit weak points in your force and take you out group by group, or he will find a small choke point near a forest and hope to out maneuver you that way. I would recommend not charging in until you have your orcs in a small concave around his force. Then when he tries to attack, you just swing in around him in any direction that he didn't attack at because he will either try to keep up his shield wall and expose some weakness that you can surround, or he will have to split up his force to cover everybody and you will have the advantage of two or more orcs on just one elf.

Two more likely heroes are Legolas and Tauriel. Legolas because he is a shooting beast and your opponent will try to snipe out important heroes and such with him. Tauriel because she is a combat beast and an antihorde type hero. If you are going up against Legolas, then I would recommend surrounding him as soon as possible as well. But Tauriel is not the person you want to horde. You want to take a monster or your mordor uruk hero and take her on with him because she will get a whole bunch of attacks if you horde her and then if she wins she will have more than enough opportunity to kill your guys.

I notice that you have a lot of mordor orcs and mordor uruk-hai, while this can be great for hording and the uruk-hai are great for their power, you might want to invest some points into turning those orcs with swords and shields into morannon orcs with swords and shield, and those orcs with spears into morannon orcs with spears. It may not sound like much but they have a higher defence and especially the higher strength value will make them a lot better against palace guards. You will be wounding on 5 or 6 whereas he will be wounding on a 6 for your shield guys and 5 or 6 for your spears. Also if he is fielding mirkwood rangers, then the higher defense on your guys with shields will make them wound on a 6 as well. If not then everyone in your army will go down to a 5 or 6, and elves love to shoot at you ...

I hope this helps!
