WIP: Maelstrom the Magnificent (Finished/Unpainted)

I am working on an evil sorcerer for the game of Lord of the rings.
I was wondering if you guys might help me balance the stats for this character.

Name: Maelstrom the Magnificent
Point cost: 200
F 5/-
S 4
D 5
A 2
W 3
C 7
Might 2
Will 5
Fate 1
Special Abilities: Nature's Wrath, (house rule) Lighting Bolt, Chill Soul

Lightning Bolt: Range 12in/30cm. All models 2 inches (5cm) from target (including target) recieve a strength 6 attack against them.

According to my calculations, he should cost around 150 points, although I usually pad in a little extra with homegrown characters to keep people from feeling he's too unbalanced. Here's how I arrived at that figure:

Base Human Profile -- 5 points
2 Fight Increases -- 10
1 Strength -- 5
2 Defense -- 10
1 Attack -- 10
2 Wound -- 20
4 Courage -- 20
2 Might -- 10
5 Will -- 25
1 Fate -- 5
3 Special Rules -- 30

I much prefer the two lower pictures, the model just looks cooler and more LOTR to me. I think around 150-170 is right where he should be.
Is he basically a wizard like Gandalf and Saruman? If so I think he should have the staff of power special (1 free will per turn), also I'd recommend only 1 attack as all other wizards only have 1, but that's of course optional.

Keeping his attacks to 1 might be a good idea (to keep him from becoming the ultimate overlord :twisted:

Personally, I don't like the idea of giving him a Staff of Power. Tolkien makes it fairly clear that these staffs are a symbol and focus of their position, power, and authority. As he is not a member of the Istari, how would he gain access to a staff of power?

There are several staff-wielding magic users in the game besides the Wizards, however, none of them have the Staff of Power ability.

Naw you are right. He already is powerful enough and I want him to be believable.

I just took him as a fallen Istari, perhaps one of the two blue wizards, or an equivalent endowed by Morgoth. But the points are definately valid against.

Maelstrom was taught by Alatar the Blue as he was journeying (somewhere in the brown lands). He learned to bend nature to his will and his soul grew dark and evil.

As for my name, it is mystery...

The second set of photos remind me of Ming The Merciless (Gordon's alive!)
Is Maelstrom part dwarf? I only ask as the concept sketch proportions seem a little shorter than standard human.

I applied some clay to get the miniature going.

...then fleshed out the arms.

...and added the basic shapes for the lightning bolts.

Next I started adding folds to his cloak.

...and then did some detail work

And here we have Moses and the 10 Commandments.

It's finished! Not bad for a beginner.

Now I have to make a color scheme for him and decide what faction he should belong in.

Also, I finished painting Gandalf the Grey.

He could be a direct servant to Sauron :sauron:

That is a fire ruby pendant on his belt.
