How many Abrakhan guard?

With serious collectors/players it wouldnt be that hard. I own 3. Yeah theyre not done, but it still means 3....get together 3 more like me and easily a dozen. Lol

I didnt even want three I happened to come by them when looking for other stuff.

The Abrakhan did seriously well tonight against Warriors of Arnor. That spear support really makes all the difference! I am going to get some more, probably another six to give me twelve that I can split into two units with spear support!

Well were not all made of money man. Cheapest you can get them is generally 5 dollars a piece. Thats already 60 dollars for 12. And thats just one part of an army and has nothing to do with your other costs. Thing about how much it would cost to buildi a proper harad army if you build a good one. Lets say, a 500 pt one with a decent selection of troops you can do....

Golden King+Suladan+Chieftan= 50 dollars if youre lucky
Then you need about 30 warriors which would be about 30 dollars. So, a nice 80 dollar army if youre lucky. Plus paint-20 dollars for a minimum of 5 paints 1 for horse 1 for weapon silver 1 for flesh and 2 colors on guys if bare minimum. Brushes or brush ill be generous and say 5 dollars. Then glue and basing material again generous 8-10 dollars.

One 500 pt army with no elites off ebay = 115 dollars.

Now lets make an elite army:

Suladan
Golden King
Chieftan
-12 Abrakhan guard
-12 watchers of Karna
-5 Abrakhan guard for 3rd warband
500 pts

230 dollars for a 500 pt army

And then lets say you play with regular people.....you want to to be a one trick pony? NO youll get murdered when they know you bring harad every time. You need a second army..... another 230 dollars.

Almost 500 dollars already.

I know thats a crazy tangent, off topic a bit....but its my topic.....anyway....

Just saying, once in a while getting caught up with the loving the hobby and how good a figures profile is.....sometimes we have to step back into reality and see how expensive this is especially for some people. Personally, Im putting together a Wood Elves, Isengard, Harad and Umbar/Easterling, a Mordor, and possibly a Moria and a Rohan eventually. They all cost more and are going to be 750 pts. And thats not even half the main army options in the game.

Thats a lot to say but.....you get the point.

Before the new Hobbit rules allowed double handed weapons to be supported by spears, these guys just lost fights, and were only any good taken in small amounts lurking at the edges waiting to surround enemies counting on someone else to win the fight! Now they are seriously dangerous when backed up by spearmen.

I am going to order another 6 for the East Grinstead Tournament!

In regards to the advice of the others I think they have it right, buy 12 now to get it going. Then when you have more money and have used them some buy some more. That's what I would do anyway.

I'm quite happy with my two.

I also ordered another 6 Abrakhan Guard today. I was a bit annoyed that free postage only now applies to purchases over £40!

Yes, but my local store is 8 miles away and it pretty much (with petrol and parking) works out the same.

8 miles totally walk-able. Abrakaan guard are essentially uruk scouts with burly, but they are squishy at D4, never let them enter fights without the spear support.
And as far a mumakil are concerned I have 3 but don't have the space for more, as they are very hard to store.

Bilbo how where AG not effective before the Hobbit? They are fight 4. So winning the majority of 1v1 fights and wounding most things on 5's, 4's, or even 3's. I suppose if they lose they are pretty killable though... Just team them up in kill teams with multi-attack warriors such as Watchers or Reavers.

They were less effective as they couldn't have spear support. So in any kind of battle-line they're not getting help against their enemy

Now you can have a battleline of abrakhan guards, but I wouldn't take more than ten-twelve,
2 Attacks at F4 and D4 are not so good to build an entire army around them.

Sure they are cheap, but there are so many good choices in the Harad list ( some way, way better than the abrakhan guard ) that spamming only them doesn't seems to me a valid option, and in addition, the army gets pretty boring.
