Just who the heck are the main characters of this shindig here?

I would say 4 Gandalfs (Starter set, white council, bilbo and gandalf, gandalf the grey (without Glamdring) and 4 Bilbo Baginses to!

And I think the battle report will feature Beorn to. (Or maybe Elves and Beorn).

I don't have a problem with them releasing clones of characters... I was just noting that they didn't give us a second version of Thorins Company yet and I find that odd. The flashbacks are nice but are not what I meant, and the finecast versions of barrels are not the same either... I mean a separate Thorins company complete for those not buying the EFGT set.

You've lost your lembas, my dear fellow. It's the "Barrels out of Bond" scenario with no Beorn in sight.
However, there's a tactica article discussing Beorn's bear form ;)

I'm looking forward to picking up the WDWeekly. Is it out now, or are we still just seeing the leaks?

Beorn and bear look best to me though I think Morgothsavenger sculpt could be as good.

There's a review of the new White Dwarf online here, Hobbit stuff starts around the 4 minute mark:
http://grotorderly.blogspot.co.uk/2014/ ... ot+Orderly)

All in all there's about 6 pages of releases, a 4 page Battle Report (Barrels out of Bond), 2 Pages of tactics for Beorn and 2 pages of Design notes. It's not more than half an hour's reading at best but that's just a fact of life with WD now rather than an indictment of their SBG coverage. Most interestingly, there's a rules update for Gundabad orcs! "Yes" I cried, "they've changed their Ancient Enemies rule so it's not all but useless!" but no, instead, they now can't take pikes and take normal spears instead. Not sure quite what the point of that is, it's another slight nerf to them as I don't seem them being formed up into huge pike blocks at that price! Of course a cynic would argue that they've done it so it's harder to proxy Uruk Hai warriors for them - who knows. All in all it looks OK and it's the best Hobbit content we're likely to get for a while, I'll be picking up my first ever WDW on Saturday morning and enjoying it with a cuppa.

What!? Now I have to completely change the planned arrangement for my Gundabad warbands, they would've been 5 shield, 7 pikes each, but now it looks like I'll have to go for a much more boring 6, 6 meaning I won't have the spares I need for my Dol Guldur Orc Shaman conversion. :(

Yeah I also think the change to spears was an attempt to stop the proxying but it also could just be an attempt to be realistic. The spears they carry are way too small to be pikes (but so are the Easterlings halberds, so its not completely convicing). Though Im glad to see them get an update on thier rules. I really hope the GW starts to realize that rules sell models since most of thier customers are gamers.

Just to raise another point. (Could very well be wrong). But is it not possible Games Workshop could do a future release of Gundabad Orcs in plastic for film 3? The uruk-hai scouts were originally in metal blisters of three for the LOTR range. It was not until later that they were released as a plastic set. Could they be doing a similar thing with these models since Finecast has basically replaced metal? Probably wishful thinking.

That might be the case but as you said; it might be wishful thinking.
Was my thought as well.
It would be a good thing to do for them, that will probably convince me to start collecting some Hobbit stuff ^^

That would be Bilbo Baggins, The Hobbit, who we have had 5 sculpts of (i.e. the most) and people are complaining that we have too many

You're right though, it would have been nice to have another set of poses for them, particularly given how cool the ones in the rulebook look. I'm particularly interested in Thorin in his coat and that model in the book with Orcrist looked amazing. Alas, I'm in the camp that thinks we'll now never see them :-(

@Dark Istari - it's certainly possible but I don't think we can gain a lot by looking at the previous metal/plastic LOTR strategies. Those conversions were done when SBG was expanding exponentially and the game was in a very different position to where it is now.
