300 points Tournament 29-March..., need help selecting force

Appreciate any comments or recommendations...
My head is kind of reeling from just the idea of finally running a game.
It's been forever. My thoughts truly are all over the place on this.
I ordered them, List 1 being most favored... to List 4.

Three games total, scored as follows...
3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, and 1 for a loss.
2 points awarded for the army being painted.
Scenarios: To the Death, Hold Ground, and Lords of Battle.

List 1: Painted
Damrod
Ithilien Guard (spear & shield) x 4
Ranger of Ithilien x8
Forlong
Axemen of Lossarnach x 12

List 2: Not painted
Harad Chief w/bow
Warriors of Karna (bow) x 9
Watchers of Karna (bow) x 3
Harad Chief
Abrakhan Merchant Guard x 5
Watchers of Karna x 6

List 3: Painted
Mahud King (war spear, shield, war camel)
Mahud Warriors (spear) x 4
Mahud Raiders (war spear) x 2
Half Troll (2 Handed) x 4
Half Troll x 2

List 4: Painted
King of the Dead
Warriors of the Dead (spear) x 4
Warriors of the Dead x 8

Few things ti point out.
List one is illegal because minas tirith and fiefdoms are different armies, so you are allowed up to 4 bows per faction. 8 rangers exceed the 1/3 limit from the minas tirith faction.
In list 4 the warriors of the dead cannot carry spears nor use special strikes. The weapons are cosmetic apart from the shield.

Overall, id say that list 4 is not veey competitive. List 3 and 4 I like a lot but since list two is unpainted id go for list 3, mainly for the awesome fluff.

I do think though that list 1 and 2 are the most competitive and have a lot of potential if built right

I totally missed that 1/3 and factions rule. I knew it, and then forgot it.
Easily fixed, I could just add 4 Ithilien Guard, and subtract 4 Ithilien Rangers.
It all would still be painted. Thank you for that catch!

I thought the Warriors of the Dead could have spears and shields now.
The new sourcebooks show that it costs a point each to equip.
I was not in love with this list anyways. Not heart broken at all.

I am still pretty tied to the Scorpion Sting, List:2.
Thought bows might be good in a small match.
Every casualty is really going to count on Saturday!
I won't get 2 points for this, but my Watchers of Karna are painted.

The Mahud List: 3 is really calling me too.
It's got variety for sure, it's like Ragu', "It's in THERE!!!".
Just worried about only having one warband.

And I do agree, List: 2 needs to be reorganized.
I kept it all simple like so it would be easy to read.

I'd vote list 2 because you have good killing power and plenty of bows. List 3 is strong but a few lucky shots will end the threat. Personally I hate the AOTD so they don't get my vote. And list 1 lacks everything really lol, Not much killing power, Not a lot of great defense, relatively unimpressive heroes. Just paint up list 2! Lol

To be honest I thought about painting List: 2 up.
My pace to paint is glacial, ...at best.
14 models would be tough to do in a month.

I care way too much about painting models once I start.
On my very first try painting, I went in fast and loose.
Was satisfied with the result.
But decided if any effort would be made, it would be a good effort!

Your so mean to List: 1!!! hahaha... I love the way they look!
I accept, and appreciate your honesty though.
It carries weight with my inexperience on the battlefield.

You can just quickly basecoat the models you want to. This has got to count as painted. Thats how far several people in my area go when it comes to painting.

I would say 3 colors minimum and I could call something "painted".

Basing a miniature is not something I spend a lot of time on.
That is where I will skimp out, if anyplace.

But yeah, meets the letter, not the spirit! hahahahaha :-D

Im work with the shop manager the most there and Id bet money on painted means FULLY painted.

As for your force, since Ill be playing against you, Ill keep my opinions to myself mostly....but I will say one thing.... dont think fiefdoms is particularly that competitive. I also thought Harad too so Im glad I changed my mind haha

Mashed the Army Builder some more. 300 points right on.
Wanted to have elements of List: 2 & List: 3.
Half Troll and Raider for random threats.
The Mahud with Blowpipes have some firepower at close range, and D5.
Watchers of Karna for obvious reasons.

Not too worried about letting the "cat out of the bag" here.
There are going to be people there who are not here on OR.
And... after all, you still have to play the game!!!

Thats going to be an awesome list to play with and against for the unique aspect.

Im taking all Hunter orcs so well be cutting each other up quick haha. Damn war camels though

For 300 points i'like this list, but a idon't know if yo have it...
Glorfindel with armour
7 elfs with spear and shield
4 elfs with elf bow and spear
1 elf with banner
You can kill many enemys with the bow and if they arrive with you you have alot of spears a banner and a glorfindel :-D

they are dead

Way too few models. We had a list similar today and was vastly outnumbered. I had 26 models myself and faces it and I just threw my troops to its lines. They were outnumbered two to one. Not much to do there.

Had a great time at the tourney on Saturday.

Here is the list I ran with. I won both my matches.

Warband 1

Warband 2
Mâhud King with Shield;
4 Mahûd Warrior with Spear
2 Half Troll of Far Harad
1 Mahûd Raider with War spear

I thought I would be outnumbered for sure.
The first game was the first win I had since forever ago.
The second game was in doubt for a long while.

No battle report here really. But this is what I remember I was against.
The first, Gondor force with Farimir, Cirion, and a bunch of WOMT.
The next, Isengard Force with Vrasku and Mauhur, Scouts, and Berserkers.

Lordofthebrownring and I have to throw down a match still!!!

Haha indeed we do. My hunters are still hungry. I just finished up painting my event for a tournament tomorrow.....yup I suck.....and after that I'll get in touch.

I ended up drawing 1 and winning two. I'll post a picture less bat rep soon.
