Hello all. It comes with great excitement to be able to finally start a "WIP" thread. A little explaining will help convey maybe my excitement.

It all began roughly 20 years ago...(1994 was the exact year but the day escapes me) I remember the day well though. I had been for many years infatuated by the Hobbit novel. It was read to me for many years as a bed time story. On a summers day in 1994 i was out in London for the day with my parents. My father had always painted models and was my guide to all things Tolkien. So when we happened upon a miniature shop call "Orcs Nest" there was no doubt that we where going in. I was told to pick whatever miniatures i would like (this was my very first experience of a model shop) I wondered around for ages until i had found the suitable models. I placed on to the counter 12 dwarves, a hobbit and a wizard (complete with pointy hat). Some fuss was made at not being able to find the last figure i needed. My Dwarven King. But by the time we left the shop i had all 15 models.

Skip forward nearly 10 years. I'm barely 16 and there i am walking past Games Workshop. Staring out from the window is a tiny Gandalf and Bilbo. So began many years of collecting and painting and gaming. Through those years i have been involved in many community sites. I even helped run TLA in it's prime!. Some of you may remember me (Radagastthebrown/Raddy/Radagast). Although i took part in all aspects of the hobby i never really did venture into posting my own work on either TLA or OR.

Skip forward nearly another 10 years...here i am with something i want to share with you all. The miniature that started it all (although this is the new version). If you have taken the time to read all of this than my honest and humble thanks. I hope now you can understand how exciting this is for me.

Imgur is probably one of the best ways of sharing photo's on the forum...I think it should be mandatory tbh.

Looking forward to seeing the figures :D

Small update, been so busy lately. I've got some sculpts i've been working on of high elven swords men which i should have some picture of very soon (hopefully tomorrow!). Apart from that my painting has been at a full stop. Mainly because i've been flat out at work. That said i am struggling for inspiration. Now i know i want to start a big project. I want to build a new board and paint the forces to battle on it. What springs to mind immediately is a board for the battle at the east gate of moria. So any thoughts or help with getting started would be helpful!

Thank you for the kind words.

There is another head variant i am working on, with a closed mouth. Once thats done i'll be making a mold so that i have enough for the full set once i'm finished. I have another swordsman i am currently working on also. The plan is the do 4 bowmen and 4 swordsmen. Then i'll make molds for them and cast them in resin. Mainly so i can have a whole army without too much sculpting work. I'm not sure yet if i will bother converting the plastic galadhrim in to spear armed noldor as i'm quite happy with the metal ones that already exist. Finally yes all sculpted/converted from the plastic galadhrim set. I couldn't see any better options for it. One idea though was to cast the plastic riders of rinvendell heads but i decided to push myself to sculpt one which i think turned out alright.

Love the look of these. I think they are lending themselves to an almost grubby, war torn feel, not the usual clean cut elf.
