Well, technically he could already have an armoured horse from the Legions of Middle-earth book onwards. They either forgot to add the option in the Free Peoples (and amended it in the FAQ) or deliberately chose not to, which was changed due to outrage of players unable to use their majestically converted High King of the Noldor. No idea, but he's had the option for a pretty long time.

His F9 will force opponents to Heroic Strike (draining Might) while potentially not even getting to F9 or F10. Free +1 to wound and high defence are good too, obviously.

The otherwise impressive Thranduil is indeed mostly wasted when just fighting other heroes - he's an excellent troop-killer though. Similarily, Boromir is still great, but his amazing Horn is pretty useless when fighting only one opponent at a time, or mainly other courageous heroes.

New Galadriel seems like a great inclusion too - adds three attacks to whatever combat you squeeze her in, but mainly because any non-resistant-to-magic heroes will otherwise certainly go down/get slowed down by Nazgûl, which she will be able to pop if not simply protecting some otherwise vulnerable hero.
Unless you expect to come across Sauron, Bilbo may also be an interesting addition. You'll basically limit any opposing hero to F5, meaning any of yours (aside from Bilbo...) would generally be higher.

@James-Lol yeah.....also that.

@Coenus-Well, I wasnt around the game for that period. I was around for like two towers/ROTK books then had to break 5 years for work then came back around 2013. But either way, thats cool.

And yeah.....not just with Boromir, but in general.....I tested it and the courage tests and terror is almost never going to matter. I faced off with Thranduil(old one) against all hero/monster army and even the troll passed all of its courage tests I think. In a game like this, most units will have at least 5 from both sides. Boromirs rule is even worse because with 2 enemies on him the likelihood is he will face one unit with high courage for that test. A good opponent will make sure.

And I see your point to an extent about Thranduil but it still can be debated his attacks and fight value alone make him worth it. How many units in the game can go up against a 4 attack fight 7 model and win even 50% of the fights? Not many at all....

And galadriel to me seems only worth bringing to banish wraiths....likely....Ill run into plenty of Thorins Companies, Fellowships, Elf Alliances, Monster armies, etc. I think Saruman is by far the better all around choice.

And Im totally lost as to what you mean by Bilbo limiting enemies to fight 5.....

Thranduil's 4 attacks are certainly nice either way, it depends on how many other heroes you can fit into the list, that may be slightly better. Glorfy with terror and resistance to magic for similar points. Although Thranduil still has an Elven cloak now that I think of it...

Enemy models in base contact with a Ringbearer half their Fight value, IIRC after heroic strikes - as the limit for the latter is 10, the model will be F5 or lower.
