1) her new improved Blinding Light...that applies only to arrows, and does not interfere with line of sight for casting a spell on her? Yes?

2) Fortify Spirit: her BotFA profile gives it a range of 12"...so she does not need to be in base contact with a model she casts it on--Yes? (The Rule book requires base contact, but BotFA is the latest...does it then modify the Rulebook?)

3) If Celeborn is leading a warband, and Galadreil is within 6", does she get the One of Purpose +1 to Resist Magic? Does he? (Both are Council members, even if in different warbands...and the special rule mentions only 'members', not a requirement to be in the Warband.)

4) Say she Channels her Fortify Spirit on herself for the +1 on her Resist rolls, and another Council member is within 6" for an additional +1...means she'll only ever have to roll a 4...correct? (covered in another thread, I think, but just to clarify).

I do want to clarify, not parse wording. I play against experienced, competitive opponents, who are able to squeeze every (legal) advantage from the rules.

thanks

1. Only applies to shooting attacks, anything considered shooting (including dragon fire for example), but NOT line of sight.
2. Base contact, it must be a typo or mistake in the supplement, stick to the description in the rulebook unless an FAQ says different.
3. No, white council members must all be in the same special all hero warband according to the rule.
"A White Council army may only include a single
warband. Unlike the usual model limit of a Hero plus
twelve Warriors, the White Council includes only Heroes,
up to a maximum of ten."
4. Yes, there is nothing written about this not stacking.

Just to add,
Point 2.
Was clarified on the GBHL facebook page by the guy who wrote the rules. Galadriel can cast it on herself or anyone within 12inchs (does not have to be in base contact with). The spell affects the casted upon model AND any/all models in base contact with that casted upon model.
Expect this to be added to the next FAQ.

So the real question about point two, can she upkeep multiple instances of it? Every other upkeep spell, like the Auras, are self targeting, so can she Fortify another person every turn, keeping everyone safe?

Dang, that's what I thought, but DANG. She is the ultimate anti-magic user. It's almost not even funny, considering how cheap she is. Fit's her character perfectly though.

What I would do against her (if I have Ringwraiths in my army) is calling a heroic move (and maybe channel) in the first round and try to sap as many will as possible before her fortify spirit is on. With two or more ringwraiths it may will work.

She just has to start outside their range, which is really easy, and Fortify her own spirit and suddenly she's pretty dang un-magicalable, especially with another member of the White Council around.

If she rolls a 1-3 she is in range and if not on a 48"x48" she has to deploy near the edge to be out of range.

The problem I have with the "corrected on facebook" is that it is not in an FAQ, and unless the tournament organizer clarifies this, then the galadriel player is stuck with the book definition. He said his friends are competitive players, I am sure they will say the same thing.

The book definition makes no sense. The books righter has corrected it and said it will soon be FAQ. If his friends say thats not good enough then to be honest they would be [word deleted] opponents and people to play.

It's in the community FAQ https://attachment.fbsbx.com/file_download.php?id=1550343085231821&eid=ASsktL5V-ARoofSn7zcDOokzsMJWEF8WYK-aTLbn2gCj4n_NpUx5sM4oWNN7WE773lQ&inline=1&ext=1423840900&hash=ASvHe9OC2mDn6Wi0XZQ

If the link doesnt work I have attached it below.

All questions which end (GWA) mean they are ''Games Workshop Approved''. These will be added into the official FAQ's when Simon next gets round to updating them.

Overall, is a very well balanced model. EXTREMELY powerful against spellcaster, bowfire and DEADLY to Nazguls, reasonably good against light armored infantry.
On the other, she's only S3 and D3 so you don't want her to fight tough guys. Against someone such as Amdur on horse, Dwarf heroes, she can only rely on luck. Dwalin can wound her on a 2+. Against monsters, she has the same problems as everyone else. But, most of all, she cannot lead a warband.

In the end, she's definitely a strong character, who also has some serious setback. is the kind of hero I'd use if I already know my opponent.
But, of course, there are tons of elves out there and almost every evil army has at least a Nazgul, so...

Id send a wraith on fell beast after her, or perhaps cavalry. Furied Warg riders?

The answers above are correct.

1 - It only affects missile fire
2 - See below
3 - No, it's only members of a White Council warband that give the boost.
4 - Yes.

2 - She can cast it on anyone within 12". In addition she can cast it on multiple models at the same time (1 per turn of course).

As has been mentioned above, this has been clarified by the rules writers and is GW's official position. The Community FAQ is now mandatory at all UK tournaments. International players are of course free to use it or not use it but it's worth noting that anything with (GWA) after the question has been confirmed by the rules writers as the official GW stance and is an interim step before the next set of FAQs come out (which could be over a year). I would say that anyone refusing to use this ruling knowing the above is not particularly playing in the spirt of the game and is not the sort of player I'd like to play against.

Hope that helps

I'd find it perfectly understandable if my opponent didn't want to play with unofficial FAQs.

I really don't think Galadriel's low str or def is going to matter that much, even against heavy infantry. You should know when to keep her out of combat and when to risk it. Sure, she can get wounded pretty easily, but with 3A at F6, she should win most fights, and she has Nenya to back her up. I would say that her only serious drawback is you might now go up against any magic. I play against dwarves a lot and they never bring magic, so she'd be mostly useless for me.

I certainly don't think anyone should be forced to play with the GBHL Community FAQ, or any other unofficial FAQ for that matter, against their will.

However, a common complaint about GW, and SBG in particular, is that they don't listen to the players/fans and don't interact with us. Over the last year games dev have actively reached out to us to clear up these issues and essentially provide us with pre-release official FAQs. It's my belief that we should try our best to disseminate these rulings and use them where possible. If I'm playing a fun game of toy soldiers with someone and a rules query comes up for which GW games dev have specifically provided a definitive answer to get us by until the next FAQ then I'd hope my opponent would abide by that ruling.
