Thanks. Wood was really easy. Base of Panzer Green from Vallejo and then wet blended with Bleached Bone for lighter bits, and with all sorts of stuff (Catachan Green, Black, Mechrite Red and Chocolate Brown) to darken it. The trick is to do it keeping the orientation of the planks and grain. The later stages are a bit more controlled.

I think the expression nowadays is LoL.
If you ever look at my Gokan I snapped off the sword and glued it back on. It was weeks later when someone asked why I had the sword with the blade on his shoulder. It seems nobody including myself had noticed until one smart.... spotted it !!!!!
To be honest I do not think it will detract too much from the finished piece.

I thought the back was facing outwards.

Corking job all round on the mini, the banner is beautifully done but I think my shield is the favourite part due the to wood grain effect, subtle but very well done 8)

And after those two miniatures, time to tackle a new one for this months challenge.

Here's Halbarad after a nice and quiet after dinner session of painting.Mostly toying with textures and muted colours to keep ithe Grey Company theme.

Nice of you to invite him to tea before you painted him.

Lovely paint work but I've never been a fan of that model. I think its the banner design i don't like so much. Can't fault the PJ tho.

I believe Tolkien himself drew that particular design for Arwens banner, but yeah, feels a bit off from the designs we got from the movies for elves and gondor.

Anyway, I worked a bit more on it and those will probably be the last pics from me of this particular mini till the end of the month. I have a couple ideas I still wanna add, but I'll save those for later I think.

Great job but what really caught my eye was the base, it works so well with the miniature.

Thank you all.

@ DMS: not too much really, just want to add a couple freehands here and there if I get the time to sit and actually do it.

@ Crucium Giger: the base is a green marble effect. Its not too hard. Its basicly just Black, Green and White blended together while still wet to form sort of a cloudy look, then a few streaks and dots with white and green. Finaly, black lines to form the 'tiles', highlighting the top and right edges of each 'tile'. The sheen comes from a generous coat of varnish.
The idea to use green marble actually came from my time playing LotRO. Annuminas had some green marble to its architecture, so I went with it for this mini.

Beautiful work! Lots of gentle depth and texture to it. Ok the banner design is a bit pants but the only option there is to go mad on the banner as well. The PJ designs (I have a lot of them here in Castle Dorthenstein) work at a distance and close up - you see more detail the closer you get but further off it merges into a more simple, recognisable icon. That's going to be a task to mimic at 28mm scale.
I would be proud to own a mini as well painted as this one. Well done Mac!

New rule: you are only allowed to enter minis that were painted with your left foot, unless of course you are left side dominated, then it is your right foot.

Seriously great stuff. Always gives me one thing to strive for. Would love to see an NMM tutorial from you!

There are many artists who cannot use their hands, for one reason or another. Some of them turn in truly amazing work.
