Well done guys- some awesome entries for April. Hopefully we can build on the 6 submitted and crack the 10 mark in the coming months in this thread.

For my May entry I've chosen the forgeworld gwahir model. I've had it undercoated and waiting in the backlog for a while so what better time than ever to get it finished.

Has anyone else decided on their entry?

I love that Gwaihir model, will have to get it at some point looking forward to seeing your progress.

I'm going to be working on Elendil and Ingold. These are two more part painted heroes (so I felt it fair to do two again) that have been sat around for a while. Most of my collection is in this part-painted limbo! I often get distracted by the next shiny thing and never come back to finish models so here we go:

I'm exactly the same bud! It's so hard going back and finishing things from the past.. I have whole armies in these various states that need love. Would you have any interest in doing a side challenge to get an army/faction finished in say 3-6mths or have a yearly new army or terrain project goal? Could document in a new thread or even this one.. seems like a good alternative for people who don't have the time & energy to run a personal WiP thread.

Anything that helps your painting motivation levels is a good thing, plus would be a nice way to share hobby progress with others.

Ingold is a nice model. Have you painted Hurin ft & mtd already too? He's a really cool miniature.

Gwaihir is a beautiful model but just can't get over the scale differences compared to the other eagles. Anybody know if Tolkien wrote anything specific in the books to explain this? Likely it's just a forgeworld resin cost/economic reason vs GW plastic cost, but would love to know! Thanks

Yeah sure, happy to do a side challenge if you can setup another topic I have tonnes of models so up to you for goals.

Ingold is a really nice sculpt, Hurin is as well. I have only painted Hurin on foot so far but it was a while ago and I may change the colour scheme to be more similar to Ingold.

Not sure about Gwaihir maybe it's just due to the casting process.

Balin is finished, one day short of end of May. I'm quite happy with the result. And I like his profile because it is so paradox. Which old dwarf with some brain and just one attack would choose a double handed mace? Certainly not Balin, but how did he end with just this kind of weapon? Maybe he was to slow, and his fellows took all the other gear.

wow, both of those entries are excellent!

Here is my Dwalin for the month of May.

It was my first try making a scenic base (rather than just slotting the mini into the standard base). I also gave him freehand tattoos on his head.

Hi perry_pug and Frogmortonjustice65, you have created really great miniatures!

The eagle is more a vignette than just a model.The hunter orc and his warg on the ground are very realistic.

Dwalin gives the impression of a really hard fighter-dwarf.

I'm looking forward to the results of June!

Hi Perry_Pug, I decided to paint some Highelves.

It will be a captain, one archer and one with Elven blade, together one metal miniature and two plastic. They will be be my first High Elves to paint.

By chance it never happened yet to be one of my projects, but some weeks ago my grandson played two times Highelves against me, with unpainted or bad painted (from some ebay-preowners) figures.

And that's my motivation for the new challenge.
