Brilliant stuff Brent! Love the fountain court and the Fountain Court Guard statues are just lovely! A nicely presented army and good bases on the army too.

As for the Haradrim, liking the scheme and the metallics looked good. However maybe the face could do withg another highlight or maybe a darker basecoat.

Anyhoo, great stuff Brent!

Wonderfull! Really like the overal look with the Yard itself. Just a question tough, did all of you needed to bring a sort of display for your army?

Nope. Displays are purely optional but they really can help with paint judge scoring as well as votes for favorite army.

Back to Harad...

First up, the start of my Far Harad Battle Company and also a member of the Mumakil of Far Harad or Mixed Harad Armies. This is the first of two "test" models to come up with a scheme. Overall, I'm happy with him. I've been trying some new shading and highlighting techniques as well as some different paints.

I went with a scheme sort of as a combination of what Ty did on the GW Army Showcase and the standard Studio army. I'm hoping to have some variations in the skin tones in the future, and like my Woses, I expect that I'll add the war markings when I get a group of models finished.

Nice model Brent, the skin tone reminds me of what desert tribes people 'should' look like, unlike the ''GW fake tan'' far harad models :D
The wicker armour looks great and im looking foward to seeing the war-paint

Well painted but I just cannot take these sculpts or the concept they represent seriously at all. Blowpipes tend to be used in confined spaces, hence rainforests etcetera.

I added a bit more subtle highlighting on the robes. Not sure if its enough but I love the way he looks.

Here's his brother with him:

and a solo sho of the new warrior:

And to give you an idea of the types of minor conversions I've got going on for my Mahud Army...

Here's 5 Mahud Warriors with blowpipes - all slightly different:

And a few other Mahud Warriors with Hand Weapons and Spears:

EDIT: Just for grins, here's my two Mahud Warriors hanging out in the Howdah.

They look great with the more highlighting! They really do look good. And they look even better hanging out in the Mumaks Howdah. Have a grin :D  .

Good work!

Really nice work BrentS. I've been out of touch with the WIP thread for a while and it's great to see some inspiring work here.

Cheers

<a href="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster02.jpg"></a><a href="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster03.jpg"></a>Here's my second attempt at a Mahûd Tribesmaster conversion. The first attempt failed miserably and didn't look any good. I'm very pleased with how this one turned out.

<a href="http://thereandblogagain.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster01.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-11" src="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster01.jpg?w=251" alt="" width="251" height="300" /></a>

<a href="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster02.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-13" src="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster02.jpg?w=260" alt="" width="260" height="300" /></a>

The base model is a Uruk-Hai Bezerker which is a nice muscular frame befitting of a Mahûd Tribesmaster. I cut off the head of the Bezerker and separated the hands from the two handed sword. I added a Mahûd head from a warrior with a blowpipe and cut the sword down to look more like a bone carved weapon. I added a "kite" from the Plastic Haradrim raider sprue and then added some wicker armor skirts using greenstuff.

This last picture shows what he'll look like when the shield is added. Its just being held in place using blu-tac right now.

<a href="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster03.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-12" src="http://thereandblogagain.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/mahudtribesmaster03.jpg?w=245" alt="" width="245" height="300" /></a>

Next up, I've got to get him glued to the base, primed, and painted!

They look good. Those look nice on the Mumak and will sure scare the opponent xD

Nice conversion too! Don't know how the normal captian looks like, but really inovative to use a berserker for a muhad guy :D

I've been working away at my Mahûd Warriors. Here's a group shot of the 6 that are finished:

Image

I've also got 3 more warriors and the Tribesmaster nearly finished. Hopefully this week I'll get some more photos to update.

I also decided to take a break from Far Harad for a bit this afternoon. I was inspired by Viruk's Dipping experiment and I decided to try it out on my own Dwarves. Here's the finished WIP results for two of them:

Not too bad for an hour's work. I think this technique has got some merit in getting an army painted up fast. I have a lot details to work out and need to play with the technique a bit more but I think with some batch painting you could finish an army very, very quickly.

If you want to see some more photos - check out my blog: There and Blog Again ...
