You are very observant, DarkWind.

If there is any paint in that pot, I would use it to undercoat your next mini.

Yes, Dark Wind, indeed thats right.. strange.
Why don't you use the Chaos Black from your pot as undercoat Darac?
You need to thin it down a bit, but its better than no undercoat.

And about the chainmail, not all looks terrible.
But, get an undercoat, and drybrush the chainmail with Boltgun Metal or Tin Bitz. Do it carefully and you will have nice chainmail with shadow.

Anyway, IMO anyone who can paint using a white undercoat can paint equally as well straight of the plastic... but I never really understood why people worked off white in the first place, since you almost always need a thin black line between colours to make them look like seperate things, and this is already done for you if you work off black.

Anyway enough of my rant. Your minis aren't at all bad. Like suggested already - a black wash would work well on the chain, and the whole mini would be none the worse with a complete wash. The axe was a nice idea, but I reckon a lotr axe would have better proportions than beastmen or whatever it is.

Sorry for dragging this a little OT, but I will comment on your piece in a second!
The reason for using white undercoat (while I'm not a used of it myself) is mainly for those crazy-kids who you see winning Golden Daemon's as they use glazing and juicing in order to paint their pieces. Both techniques involve creating shade by filling in areas which would have shadow by using a darker colour - if you've noticed in real life there isnt a 'true' pure black, it's always a shade of grey which is influenced by the position of the lighting. While there are some pro's using black as a main undercoat, the greater population uses both white or grey primer to paint.

Back OT. I don't think the lack of undercoat is that bad - obviously you are doing a great job so far - one of our past members, Beatrice if I recall didn't use a straight black undercoat either.

The pic is a little blurry to really make out any details, however I can see definition in the cloak and chainmail, which is always good :)

Keep it up mate!

I painted my first 16 goblins (from MoM) without undercoat. I was new and didnt know thats what people did. They turned out good (for being the first model I ever painted) I didnt have to layer the paint on to get rid of the gray plastic other than the odd tiny spot I missed.

Very impressive Balrog, the hot colors are very well done.
I hope you will do a black wash on the grey wings.

But anyways, well done. 8)

Thanks for comments!
O I almost forgot!
What is your suggestion how to paint its base?

Here is a hint:
I want to make him like he has get out ,of his lair deep in to the mountains, and standing on some rocky/grass land (ready to fight against every enemies that stand in his way)

Nice Balrog, he certainly looks like he is on fire...dont know where you got the inspiration to paint him like that, but I would bestow many gifts on the individual responsible for the guide !!! 8)

It could just count as a hand weapon, Jack.

It is not a pike, it's a broken piece of spike and it counts as hand weapon.

Some nice work there, like that dark armour on the Uruks and the Balrog is coming along nicely.

Funny all the discussion about undercoating, nobody noticed you hadn't done it for the Uruks...

edit - because I forgot to add 'along.'
