Any one else noticed the LOTR models are getting slightly larger than the older ones?

I have. Example: Uruk Scouts vs. Fighting Uruks.

Yes - that has been mentioned in several threads on the WotR minis. But that has been an issue from the start - the metal High Elven spears are bigger than the plastic glaives and bows, the metal Uruk scouts tend to be bigger than the plastic fighting Uruk-hai and so on.
Then you have the peculiar sculpts (Monkey Tins) that are huge and urang-utan like in the upper limb department... And the truly awful coneheads...
So size variations have been there from the start, but we do seem to be creeping up in size a little... (and increasing prices faster than banks can lose money these days...)

Yea i have noticed that most of the models that ive bought recently are slightly taller/bigger than the ones ive had for a while...

I haven't noticed this either, but I have noticed that all the metal figures are larger than the plasic ones. Example: all the Khandish models (being all metal) are pretty nocticably bigger than other basic warriors.

Take a look at the new Rohan Command Set as well, wow they are big. still like them, the captain grabbing the Orc by the throat is amazing and orginal.

I dont really mind it you can only notice it when one model is next to the other and you really get in there to have a look, but I first noticed it with the Trbuchet crew and Knights of Minas Tirith they are a lot bigger than normal warriors....
Like I said its all good if they can get more detail on the figs I just think maybe they should have started out at this size to begin with....
At leat now maybe the "Mordheim" weapon sprues can be used as at first they were slightly too big..... Conversion heaven, lol

HAve you seen Mouth of Sauron on foot? Bloody hell he's sword is taller than most of the foot soldiers and he hemselg is huge, he's much taller than any warrior or hero on foot (on a 20mm base)

But that just makes him stand out from the crowd Ilike it acctually

But the size variation, nah, it doesn't bother me as long as thye stick to a normal size...

I checked Mouth of Sauron, and he's about 35-40mm tall (sword NOT included), and a plastic Rohan soldier stands up to his shoulders...

Well that actually makes sense. Since tMoS is supposed to be an immortal, sorcerous being doesn't it make sense that he's taller than everyone? I mean, look at Sauron He's almost about three times as tall as a foot soldier!

You're right there, but in the movie (at least what I can remember), he's about the same size as Aragorn, and the minis are not the same size.

Where did you get the idea that the Mouth is immortal?

I asked in GW as it was grinding at me, they said it is a conciouse decision to make them bigger.
They were 28mm to start with but their other games were 28mm heroscale (this means exaggerated build, bigger muscles etc), and they are merging LOTR into this now also to make conversions easier and more varied....
Hmmm does this mean the plastic sprues will have more options available for individuality?

Rubbish that it was a conscious decision.

It's down to sculptors.

Gary Morley who sculpted the monkey twins, the KODA and a whole mess of the elves and stuff is traditionally a WFB sculptor. Far better for that sort of stuff.
His sculpts end up being heroic 28mm rather than the true scale.
The perry twins who did most of the early stuff worked (and still do) at true 28mm. However, they do less and less for GW as they have their own very popular company to keep up.

Black Numenoreans are not immortal, their life was just extended but they acctaully lived in Umbar (during the and before of the war of the ring) as Tyrans and Mouth may have 2 origins...

1. from to fall of Numenor (bloody hell he is very old in that case)
or
2. since the rebuilding of Barad-Dur and Sauron coming back again, thus he would be about 500 years or something?

Well still he is old enough, especially since he had learned the dark arst from Sauron (prolonging his life)

But in the end the remaining Black numenoreans just got mixed up with the regular ones and well basically vanished as a race. But there could me more in the east you may never know...

Okay, you're probably right. But I do remember reading in the Mordor supplement that Black Nums were immortal.

Maybe I shouldn't rely on them as accurate Middle-Earth history sources...
