Er, maybe brown/ black/ grey hair?

Nah, the Oompa-Loompa's had orange skin. You are thinking of the ones from Futurama, the Elves from the Evil Santa one...

You want me to paint my Dwarves in your likeness, John? :P

That was the general idea. :)

I like the Dwarves! I suggest though, that you should wash the Gold Armour with Badab Black, then it will look more realistic 8)

Hey everyone, I have another update for you. :)

I finished the helmets on the Khazad Guard, so here you are,

As you can see, I chose to paint part of the helmets red, this is to make the color a little more noticeable throughout the force. Comments and critiscm welcome. :)

Nice job Josh!, I like the look of the Red Cloth, but maybe you should highlight them a bit more. 8)

I'd add a highlight to the Gold parts mate. An equal parts mix of Mithril Silver and Shining gold will do the trick methinks.

At the moment it has two highlights, though they're fairly hard to see since the cloth is a fairly small area of the model. If you guys think I should, I could add another highlight easily enough. :)

At the moment, my scheme for the armor is to start with Dwarf Bronze, highligh with an even mix of Dwarf Bronze and Shining Gold, wash with Gryphonne Sepia, and lastly highlight with pure Shining Gold. As I said before, shouldn't be to hard to add another highlight, if you guys think its best.

Looking good. I do agree with John; if you highlight the armour once more it will look even nicer. 8)

Thanks, Olle. :)

I'll be sure to add the extra highlight today.

I have a small update today. I followed your suggestions of further highlights on the golden armor, and the red cloth. I'm fairly pleased with the results. I also began work on the silver armor, though I'm not very pleased with that particular area. So, here you are folks,

Love the gold, has a nice effect on the mini, contrasts well with the silver, perhaps a badab black wash over the chainmail. Just a thought. Keep it up.

Much better now. 8)

However, the axes and silver armour seems too thick; try thinning your paints more.

Good eye Olle, your right. It's not the silver that's the problem though, the black undercoat was far to heavy, and that's what messed up that area. :(

Hmmm, it seems I’ve hit a wall with my Dwarves, folks. You see, I was in a reflective mood today (Never a good sign with me  ), and I began thinking how much I dislike painting with the color red. Frankly, I find it a difficult color to paint with and am not pleased with the results I’m achieving with it. So, the long and short of it is I’m thinking of changing my color scheme. Do you guys think I should?

I’ve begun to contemplate a blue color scheme. I’ve had good results with it in the past, and it looks great on Dwarves (As shown by Bart’s lovely Dwarves). Of course, changing would have its negatives, I’d have to erase all my work up to this point (3 whole models  ).

So, what are your guy’s opinions on this? I’m certainly leaning towards blue myself.

Josh

Keep red for the Khazad-Guards, to keep them elite. use blue for the rest of the force.

Cool painting, keep it up. 8)

I think blue would be better, since it gives some contrast to the golden armour.
