Been a long time since I updated this but I thought I would add my dragons. The first one is basically the same paint job of Smaug that GW did but I like it so much I copied it. I did add to the base (made it larger for more stability and added more flames).

The purple dragon is one of those pewter figures you find in a gift shop store with the gems in the eye sockets. I popped those out and sculpted my own eyes. Made the base using cork and painted up the lava. The base was actually much more fun to make/paint than the figure itself.

Sorry, the photos are a bit blurry....

Note: I am still looking for the elven Cavalry blister pack. If you have one or know of one and are willing to part with them, please let me know!

Wow I can't beleive I missed this thread... that army is sensational, and I envy your talent, being able to paint with such precision on something so small. The dragons are also marvelous, great job :)

Wow, all of your painting in here is simply fantastic. To achieve that level of painting on so small of miniatures is simply astounding.

Your dragons are wonderful, I just love the base on the second one, and Smaug looks grest as well.

Good luck finding the Elven Cavalry.

The purple dragon is such a nice shape if you put it next to flying Smaugh!
I love the paintjobs on both though! Great job!
Nice to see all finished!
Wanna paint my box aswell? hehe!

Oh, and good luck on that Elven Cavalry! I've been looking for it aswell since I bought that box and blister, all straight from GW, they never shipped me the Elven Cavalry but gave me back my money... two days after placing my order, all was discontinued... :-(
Since then, all I don't have is the elven cav.

I saw it once on ebay though, but it came with the whole lot incl. the box...
so price was very high!

I hope you find one soon! (and if you find them double, don't hesitate to let me know :D , I'll do the same :D )

 I don't mind a thread being revived if it's a wip and the post is by the author, especially if the painting is so good. :yay: 8)

Great job.
I especially like the purple dragon.

hehe....
I have painted many figures in my day but honestly, these little guys were the most tedious.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

i may sound a little stupid but i am new to all this and i was wondering as these seem to be so much smaller than other lotr armies could you still battle them say moria vs the dwarves from this set?

They are in fact much smaller about 1/4 the size of the regular GW LOTR figures. The main box set contains both dwarves and gobblins so you could do moria type battles but I wouldn't combine with the larger 25mm figures.

BTW...if you are interested, there are a few other companies that make figures in this scale that mix very well (Cobblestone castings for example).

Hey gang. These have been sitting on my self ever since I painted them which is really unfortunate. My intention was to put a ton of effort into them as I would want to keep them as my own figures but I have chosen to par down my gaming shelves (which believe me...is still way to full). I play the 25mm version of the game which rarely get's played so this was the set I have painfully decided to part with. I am going to sell them soon on ebay although haven't decided if I am going to break them up or sell them as a whole. PM me if you are interested.

Sorry to "necro" this thread but I thought it was worth mentioning that I listed these figures on Ebay this week. I had intended on listing them a while back but never got around to it. But now, they are listed and the auction is live. I've had a few PM's asking when they would sell so hopefully this is helpful.

Ha, ha. Saw the listing on E-bay the other day. I thought it looked familiar. I remembered someone doing a great Bofa on here, but I didn't think the listing was that same person. I hope it sells, though it's too bad you have to get rid of it. Its probably the best painted Bofa I've ever seen. :yay:
