Elves are my favorite race from both the books and the films, which is why I want to make a large elf force for WOTR. I have already started but it takes a while to paint elves so I though I would make this thread to inspire me to keep working at it. I do enjoy painting, but with a backlog of unpainted minitures I don't sppear to be getting anyware.

Anyway this is what I plan to have eventually (I will be collecting and painting this over a long time as money is not unlimited).

48 high elf swordsmen (will be converted to have shields)
48 high elf archers
48 galadhrim swordsmen
48 galadhrim archers
48 wood elves
48 galadhrim spearmen
24 high elf spearmen
24 Elf Pikemen
18 galadhrim knights
white council set
celeborn
elrond
fellowship
gil-galad
elladan and elrohir
haldir
galndalf
radgahst
ent
treebeard
glorfindel
eagle (possibly)
mounted elrond

This is going to be a very big elf army and will take a while to paint so I'm spliting it up. I will set myself targets for christmas and then work from there.

I have fully painted the following:

16 high elf swordsmen
24 high elf archers
9 high elf spearmen
glorfindel mounted
gil-galad
radaghast
high elf banner

This isn't very much compared to what I want to paint which is why I made this thread.

I have converted:

24 high elf swordsmen

I will get some pictures up ASAP of what I have completed (may need to wait untill next week-end for the time).

By christmas I want to have painted:

8 high elf archers
8 galadhrim archers
8 galadhrim swordsmen
8 galadhrim spearmen
16 high elf swordsmen
6 high elf spearmen
high elf captain
elrond

Please tell me if I've missed anything

I find heroes to be a good break after painting some rank and file troops, thats the main reason I added them but I picked ones that would also be useful when playing.

that's going to be one huge army! The list looks pretty good as there's a solid base of troops in addition to all the heroes.

I'm assuming that it's just a list of models you're planning to collect? Otherwise you couldn't have the White Council, Fellowship, Gandalf, etc. all at the same time. just a small point I thought I'd mention.

As well, it's a good idea you've got, planning out the army in small amounts. Good luck finishing the army, and I'm looking forward to some pictures.

Thanks for the support, pics of completed work will be up ASAP but don't expect any brilliant painting. What I've listed is just what I'm going to collect, I wouln't use all of it in one game.

I don't have nearly all those models yet, but I plan to buy them as I finish painting the ones I currently have.
