You've been very busy Josh! That mining piece looks great, full of detail! Have you got a chain and pulley system in mind?

Thanks for the comment, Jack. :)

I did play with the idea of a working pulley, but it proved too complex. I've decided to use just a simple chain, it's wrapped around the dowel, and then it loops up and over the pulley, hanging down into the chasm.

I should be able to pick up some paints this weekend, and when I do I'll be sure to update here.

Thanks again for all of you're support guys. 8)

Thought I'd give you guys a little status update, I bought all the paints I needed. I've also tested out my color scheme, and am very pleased with the results. If all goes as planned, I should have the mine working finished by tomorrow! :)

I'll be sure to update then. Thanks again for all the comments, they mean a lot guys.

I loo-hoves it! And the paint! Great paint job! I can almost smell the tar! ... Atleast I wish I could, Tar smells awsome.

How did you make the chains?

Wow! It looks like it was made out of real wood! (Wait, it was  ). Popsicle sticks are wood, aren't they? Actually, those don't all look like popsicle sticks. Some of them are too thick.

Really, it does look great. Nice, dark wood. Now all you need are some converted dwarves to man it!

Thanks for the comments guys, they're much apreaciated. :)

The chain is simply an old chain taken from a necklace. Nothing fancy, but it works well enough in my opinion.

The plarforms are made from popsickle sticks, and the structure is made out of 6mm balsa wood. :)

I really like the chain, it makes it so much better. I think you should do some more highlights on it as it looks nearly flat to me. 8) Though I do tend to like my wood dark and then 1 or 2 bright highlights to really bring out the grain and weathering.

So... If I want to make a large mine-working board, I need to stuff tons of popcicles down my throat? =o

Bad.
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE A MINIATURE ON IT! :-X
Looks nice, Josh. I would however recommend to add a few highlights with Rotting Flesh or something, as it would look more weathered then.

Yes, looking at it now, I too believe the wood needs an extra drybrush of Rotting Flesh. I'll also give the metal areas an extra drybrush of Boltgun Metal.

Buy some at Hobby Lobby instead. I got a box of 1000 for $4.99 USD. Still haven't used them all. :-D
