I never thought of sculpting leather armor, I was just thinking of painting it brown like leather, but that is a great idea. I'll try it out tomorrow and hopefully I will have some more pictures up then.

Here is the promised update.
I have made the front leg a little larger and I've added the hood. The hand and painting will come shortly.

And the ranger. I'm not quite sure about the armor though. I might redo do, any suggestions on how?

Great job, I never would have had the courage to try to sculpt my own miniature.

I might just try after seeing this, though. :-D

How is the color scheme and painting?

You should give it a try. It is very rewarding. Start off with something easy and it should all come together. I must admit that I never planned to try out scratch sculpting just yet but I needed something to do in "advanced art," so I gave try.

If you live far away from any LOTR supplier then why not order online? I know maelstrom games has free world wide delivery and there are probobly other sites around with free postage.

Looking very good! I like the last ranger. He has a good character to him.

Yeah the last Ranger is great! :yay:
The colours are good - drab, just as Rangers should be - and I like the helmet (though it needs a little tidy up). Perhaps a few more highlights would make an improvement but great work so far. :)

He is one of my favorites as well. I had originally converted him into a hasharin but the blowpipe and the painting was horrible. It was such a shame as I had gone through a lot of effort to get him just right. As I was converting a few other warriors of rohan into rangers, I simply swapped the blowpipe for a bow and repainted him to fit in with the rest. Now I'm a lot more satisfied with him.
Here at last is the finished Ring Wraith.

Thank you all for your support and help during this project. Without your help it would never have looked anything like this.

Sorry about the pictures. There was a slight issue with the photos I had uploaded an the ones of the finished ring wraith seemed to work, I just found out today that they didn't.
From what I can see I really need to work on sculpting hands, the right one is off of a warrior of rohan and not actually sculpted by me. Any ideas as to how to make them better? I am presently sculpting them on a flat surface so one side is always flat but I can't figure how to do it any other way.

Put your sculpting medium on a pin or piece of brass rod and do it that way. Even go so far as sticking the other end into an old cork or piece or wood so that you have something substantial to hold onto whilst you are working.

I tried that but i just couldn't get it the right shape. Can you give a more specific description of how to do it please?
I've finally finished the last of the ranger so here they are. I should have smoothen the armor a little more but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

This will likely be my last post for a while as I'm going away for a few days but when I get back I plan on starting a new scratch sculpt.
Please leave comments and suggestions for future improvement. (I don't get offended easily so say what you want)
