Well i don't play WOTR but this is great seeing another LOTR article on the site, I will be buying the Blackroot Vale command and Dunhir soon, and this quote was the pick of the bunch.

Duinhir and Blackroot Vale Archers are the best archers folks without pointy ears can muster.

Looking good for SBG stats i think. :D

Nice find!

Question, what's the model with the raised ax in the scout formation on this page?

I think he was part of the Isengard battlehost box that came out a while ago and then disappeared. Hopefully they will release it in a blister, because he looks great! Perhaps he is an Uruk-hai scout captain.

It's an Uruk-Hai scout captain that GW made a while back but only released a few due to problems with the mould or something. It's in the Two Towers book and a few other places, but they're really rare.

Apparently they were unreleased - http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/LOTR_-_Unreleased[/url]

it was included in "the host of cirith ungol" mordor host box. it came out a while ago then disappeared as Erurainon the Trombonist mentioned (I have one :D ), but it was an Orc Captain. Here are some pictures of him, great model!

Those boxes were great deals and I hope GW would consider releasing similar big boxes again with reasonable prices.

Yeah, I picked up two boxes of the Cirith Ungol set just before they discontinued them. Great bargain for sure with a metal Troll, six metal Uruks, command and LOTS of plastics. 8) I didn't realize that was the only place these Captains came (I've not bought an Orc Command blister).

I think their Wardens of the Westgate (Dwarf) set was another great bargain, but alas that one vanished the week I went to pick it up. :(

These box sets were great bargains. Usually worked out that you were getting one free set of plastics ( ~ $20 US) if you bought the $90 one.

That orc captain is in the Mordor Orc Command:

I think Longbottom Leaf meant the Uruk-hai Scout with two-handed axe. See gambit025's post for a link to the pic.

Yeah, that makes sense. I didn't think there was anything unique about the C.U. captain (though it was still a great box set).

I just ordered Duinhir, the BV Command and plastic SKoDA. The first two will go with a pack of plastic rangers I have sitting in the cupboard untouched.

I am not sure about Battlehosts and WotR. I have played WotR once at my local GW and wasn't too keen as I am more of a skirmish/RPG gamer. That said, it would put to good use the multitudes of minis I have but I am not sure if it warrants the extra groats required to spend on them.

The good thing is that Wood Elf and Isengard players can maximise the pictures to see an example battlehost of each of theirs (there's a Rohan one that you can just about read in WD, maybe another Isengard one or it could be the same one) to help entice them into buying the book. I believe that I have one waiting for me at my parents' house, but I'm not going down there for another 3 weeks! Argh :D
