Thanks everyone.

Btw, is that a gaming table the army is on? Did you finally play a second game of the sbg with your new army? :P

That is actually a RoB board in GW Falkirk, I took the pictures when I finally took them off of display. Sadly, the bastion in the background is neither black enough, and has too many visible heavy bolters to look like Orthanc. Never fear, they were replaced by Gothmog and a bunch of Morannon Orcs, and a box of the new Morgul Knights I painted for the store.

Yes, I did indeed play a second game. I managed to get a draw, using mostly Scouts and Berserkers vs. a High Elf army including Glorfindel and Erestor. My normally lacklustre rolling was on vacation, and I was firing out 6's left right and centre.

Gaarew, it looks great. Always nice to see an Isengard army with a decent representation of "normal" Orcs. 8)

It's an impressive force to say the least. Have they been one of your projects for a long time or did you just decide to embarrass us all by painting them in a week.

Well, ya know, sometimes there is just nothing to do on a Tuesday...

No, that is the finished shot of my complete 2009 Tale of 9 Gamers force, plus the 2-3 months MPV forces (Wildmen and Dunlendings) plus the Isengard Troll and Saruman the White I'd painted purely for pleasure.

I do have another box of Orcs to add to that, although the bases are yet to be finished. Ugluk needs someone to decapitate after all...

:-D

Wow, that is an incredible Uruk army - and it's only the start?

I don't think the bastion in the background is going to stand much chance against that lot.

This is the latest batch of Uruks I've painted. The models were from a trade with aqan. Three broken pikes allowed me to arm three pikemen.

That's all my Uruk backlog painted (if I don't include all the models that I need to repaint... and will over the next year if all goes to plan).

This week I'm expecting the arrival of 200 Uruks to add to my army - they'll need painting too.

Preparing pikemen for painting.

These are all 'new' ones from eBay.

wow! There a alot of great pics in this thread!

@Natarn I like your models, but i personnaly think the skin is just a
little bit to dark ( not that i could paint it any better XD)

But i have read why, so i understand, however, i sorta cant get used to it :-D

anyway very nice

Don't worry about it. We all have our preferences.

I used to paint the skin completely black after reading about 'black uruks of Mordor' but think that some red tones do look good.

Look at the skin tones in the films - they are really dark. Sure, there's a bit of reddish hue in there, but not much. Check out the scouts carrying Pippin and Merry and cut to the siege of Helm's Deep - again, really dark skin tones.

I've found that painting them with chaos black just doesn't look good in my opinion and that painting them red and giving them a black wash does the trick for me.

That's a lot of pikes! This is going to take you a while, but it looks like fun. Can't wait to see them all painted up.

for the uruks skin, whenever uruks are in sunlight, their skin gets "ashed up". Meaning it darkens, so the skin tone for your uruk's natarn are great!!!

Sounds interesting...

Battlehosts has just been released and the 5/6 Isengard Battlehosts would mean a big... BIG army...?

...I look forward to it all being revealed!

Excuse my ignorance but what does this mean? What is the 5/6 Battlehost?

It means I'm not sure how many Isengard Battlehosts there are. I think there's either 5 or 6...

Ah, I see - a supplement.

Gaarew is into WotR, I think, so he may have something like that planned. My army is currently for SBG so I don't have to worry about grouping my minis in eights and can arrange them just as I wish. :)

25 of the pikemen are now painted (apart from their bases). Only another 70 to go (plus another load of Uruks on their way from IseneBaygard).
