hey Dannis, aren't you that guy who had the absolutely AMAZING elves on page 1 of this thread?

in regards to new elves: WOW those plastics look great! the red cloaks look awesome and every colour i can see looks extremely well blended. keep it up! IMO you have the best painted elves in this whole thread.

Hey thanks!

Jup, I have some other pics in this thread aswell. But I've been away for LotR for quite a long time. Have been doing 40k, since SBG wasn't that fun anymore. Now we have decided with the gaming group that we are going to start WotR (nobody plays it here). I'm going with a couple of friends to the WHworld HobbyCamp this year, and although they don't do WotR, this event will be quite good to bump up my mini's to WotR proportions.

So, with that in sight, I have started to paint up some elves when I'm fed up with painting Templars :P
Currently working on 1 sample Guard and 2 Woodelves with glaives, think I will make a WiP thread soon.

That Galadriel looks awesome, what you did with the eyes is definitely different. What were you trying to portray/do by painting them that way? :yay:

Hey thanks! Must say that the 'battle Galadriel' is a real pain in the a** to paint because of the way her clothes go.
What I tried to achieve were glowing eyes. I asked the client the painting scheme and he wanted the normal scheme, nothing fancy with blue dress or armor. I proposed to try to achieve glowing eyes, he agreed.
This way this Galadriel still has something 'evil' or atleast, scary, and that's quite important with this version I think.

When holding the mini in your hands you'll see it better then on the pic. First time I tried it and I'm not to disappointed with it, but the next time I might tone the color on here face more down a bit.

here are my new fingolfin knights(hehe).
Image
one rider, the horse was painted like this,
base coat of astronomican grey, then a wash of badab black over all the base colors, and that's it. I was going to highlight it, but i decided not too because i really liked the shading and the darker color complimented the rest of my army color.
Image
these guys make my first company, all in all i will have 6 companies of these guys!!
Image
that's my update for now, more men to come!!!!

this summer will be an incredible summer for my elves!!!

Wow, love the color-scheme of your Fingolfin knights. What did you use for the armour? I like it much better than the orangey GW default.

thanks a lot whafrog!
i used boltgun metal for the base coat of the armor, then washed it with badab black.
for the chainmail, i just used chainmail, then washed that with badab black too.

awesomness. those models seem to look great individually and (especially) as an army. basing is VERY nice, what colours do you use for the grey?? i may try it on some numenoreans or WoMT when i get rounnd to painting them.

PS everytime this thread seems about to die it gets posted in again! long live 'Galadhrim and other elven pics POST here!!' (over 10,000 views and counting)

YESSSS, i think this is one of the biggest threads in the whole Forum! Let's keep it up boys(and girls).

anyway, the color for the grey armor is very simple
1. base coat of boltgun metal
2. wash of badab black
and that's it!

it's a very effective color scheme, and it's quick!!

Really like the metal, excellent job there. 8) I might try and use another, lighter colour for the tunic to help contrast a little.

@ Feanorthenoldor the armour could do with a highlight or two, judgin on the picture there. also i agree with what spuds4ever said. Other than that, they're very good, nice and neatly painted :)

Those bases are awesome too! 8)

What is the cloak/tunic color? Looks like a darkened shadow grey.
