Can't believe these are your first miniatures in years...excellent work, can't wait to see what you can do with a brush a year from now :)

Only critique at this point is that Saruman's skin seems too dark.

Thanks Anduril! Thats very encouraging to hear! :D :D And yeah i tired to lighten it with a few glazes, but i guess it wasnt enough, Ill try again later. Was also thinking of adding some dirt on the bottom of his cloak.

Here is some more, I just got some Lorien Elf Bowmen and I started on one. The brown isnt done, its just the first layer, but I got tired while painting so decided to call it quits there.

C&C always welcome.

Hey
here is the finished elf, he isnt my best work i dont think. i thought my saruman was much better, but i was doing a lot of experimenting with colors and inks while painting him. Clickable thumbnails for size.

I think i still have to thin down my paints even more. Any way C&C welcome.

Well, I like 'em.

I am pretty convinced that most painters can do without eyes. It sounds weird until you realise that you can't see another person's eyes beyond fifty paces. Just make sure there's a nice warm shadow there instead.

also water down your paints, especially when messing with skin tones.

Very nice colour scheme. The flesh could do with a bit more work but the highlights on the rest of the model are very smooth. Keep up the good work! 8)

@ aelfwine thats a good point, but i feel like the eyes are the most challenging part to get right and that if i practice doing them eventually ill be able to do them well. I guess I like the challenge and think it ca look good if done right. Though maybe I will try one without the eyes.

@ King Elessar, thanks, yeah I agree about the flesh, sometimes I still have trouble getting the paints to the right consistency.

Well I am working on 2 more Lorien Elves at the moment, and after that I might do another hero, just to break up the y collection of lorien elves into smaller bunches. Though perhaps I will do another set of Lorien elves in more autumn like colors, what do you guys think?

So i have started on a Strider model, only the brown cloth and the face are done, though i dont really like the right side of the face but am not sure how to make it better, any suggestions are welcome.

Great start, the brown looks very realistic. I horrible at painting flesh though I would suggest painting the right side of the face a little lighter, you don't want it too dark as the shadows will make it even darker, and avoid using washes, or use very thin washes, as it will pool in those recesses and take away the detail.

Hey guys, so here are some new updated pics of strider. I think everything that has paint on it now with the exception of the dagger hilt (which will get a touch up and another highlight) is done. let me know what you think. Clickable thumbnails to keep the size down.

Nice work. Your colour choice for the boots is rather interesting though it look very good. The mud on the back of the boots is great though the front could use some more. The painting on the boot straps is also a little messy. Otherwise you've done an excellent job on him.

Yea the boot straps were done close to the end and i was getting tired, so tat probably why. I might go back and fix them later, right now I dont want to work on him for a little while. I think I might try painting a hobbit next. Not sure which one though. I'll keep you guys updated.

Wow it has been a long time since I posted here. At first i didnt have time to paint, and then I started attempting some random terrain projects and then an entry in the OR awards, which has failed since I will not have enough time to complete it unfortunately. I think I will start planning one for next year soon.
Anyway, the point of all this rambling is to say that i am sorry i havent been active, but I have painted up some Easterlings, though I havent had an opportunity to take photos yet. I will do that in the next couple days and then try to update this thread more often.
