i've not done any work today because i had a load of homework and rugby after school in the strength sapping rain.

Have you tried cutting up strips of balsa wood, it's just as good as lolly sticks (apart from the fact you can't have an excuse to finish off half a dozen lollies) They'll be at your local toy store that sells warhammer or sometimes in these B&Q shops.

I also think balsa wood looks good for this maybe even better :)

Make sure to do some rough weathering when it's finished.

Ok i'll try and find some. By weathering do you mean drybrushing and things like that?

Weathering can be from giving the wood a few scratches, to painting techniques or even having plants growing up the side showing it's old etc..

Hows it coming along with the hall? Any progress? 8)

No sadly not yet. I'll try to get some balsa wood tomorrow and I will get pics of the steps to the hall up tonight.

I should be showing my three new dunland bowmen now but my order hasn't arrived and they said it would be here today at the latest so im a bit p*issed off.
Anyway I'm going to be painting 4 wraiths, the witch-king and a hasharin for the community blog so expect some stuff up soon.

Looks cool but I'm not sure how the rocks will look when finished I think they look not rock like. Maybe you can use some filler to make it more rocky? 8)

Thanks. Thats a good idea about using filler to cover the gaps and stuff, i thought it would take too much greenstuff. :)

I like what you have done :!:
You can add some craft paint to some glue and paint it on and then sift on sand for texture.
If you paint it green it looks like grass.
If you paint it brown or gray it will look like gravel.
You can add filler too. If you add paint to filler it wont chip off white.

Thanks for the tips Willow. Do you put sand on the styrene? Because I'm going to be making a base for the hall as well.
Good advice about the filler as well I honestly never thought of that.

As long as the paint will stick it will work. You might have to prime some plastic. Styrofoam, pink, yellow blue and white use PVA and craft paint. A friend still has some trenches I made like that 20 years ago. Use a sifter to spread the sand. It will look better. I made mine from an old baby food jar. I poked holes in the tin top. It works fine. I often use filler and add sand later. It just depends on how I want it to look.

Aah I get you now. Do you think the GW sand is ok for it?
Thanks for your wonderful tip.

*Spooky voice* beach beeaaccchhh

GW is fine, but whats the point in spending 5 squid or so on it? Get some sand from the beach, and if you want it thin - get a fine siv. If your looking for stuff that's quite a bit rougher, try grit.
