Your paints are nice and thin which is good. Are these just at basecoat stages? Because I would suggest some shading and highlights on the skin (and other areas).

Thanks, yes they're mostly just basecoats, I won't do the skin 'cause that paint is pretty thick so I don't want to screw things up :P But I might try on other areas, I'll upload pictures ASAP.

If you're worried about highlighting and shading due to thick paint, you could always try a wash over the basecoat for the faces. I find either a Flesh Wash wash, a Brown Ink wash or an Ogryn Flesh wash works pretty well (for the first two you'll need to water them down a lot otherwise you'll get a shiny result). These are quick and easy ways to get shading on your faces and they won't make the paint on the faces much thicker either.

Good luck.

Looking good at the moment so well done. As Red said a wash will give the faces more depth and plus it's easy as well. I agree about Merry's monkey face, it's not sculpted very well. Keep up the good work.

Looking good so far!
I can only encourage you trying out a wash over the face! It makes them look much better with only a little effort.
Once you start trying this out, you can be amazed on how quick you can make progress and how easy it is to learn new things to raise your skills!

I remember I used watered down flesh wash aswell for my first faces. It looked pretty good actually..; untill it didn't satisfy me anymore, and then I forced myself into getting a step higher... and so on...

Goodluck if you take the risk to try it! ;)

Thanks for the kind replies everyone! :D
I'll try out the washes in the future, but I'll have to wait till I find another shop nearby, otherwise I'll have to wait way to long..
If I got them I'll try them on some other mini's, for practice, I'm happy with my fellowship so far so.. :P
Anyway, thanks for the tip, I'll try it out once I got the washes (:

Yes, oh well, that's what I'm trying :P
I'm glad with the result so far, except on merry's face.. it seems a little odd but oh well.. you won't see it when they're in group I guess.

It's been a while since I uploaded some pictures here, I was sick for a week and when I recovered school took away all my free time I had.. now things are a little calm so I decided to join the Buhrdur painting challenge and today I painted the fur on his back, here are some pics, they're a little dark here since it was dark outside when I took the pictures too. Anyway, I hope you'll like it:

Glad to have you back and I hope you feel better.

I like the fur a lot, is it just drybrushed? I'm hoping to see some great work so keep it up 8)

haha thanks guys, I'll be converting some more, but exams are taking a lot of my time away :P
yet I wonder, should I give them a white or black basecoat? it'll be the first time I'll be using a white one, but I'm planning to paint them like the movie, what do you guys think?

Yay, your back! :D I love those Numenor conversions, they are simple yet very effective. Your Moria board looks great as well.
In answer to your question, use black because their armour is mostly black in the film or very dark colours.
Keep up the great work.
