Hey all, I'm looking for alternate (cheaper) models to use as Dunlendings and I'm a little stuck. GW's Dunlending Huscarls look rather Viking-esque, which I like. Historically, however, considering that the Rohirrim (based on Anglo-Saxons) came and drove the Dunlendings out would ancient Britons be more realistic Dunlendings?
Both Wargames Factory and Gripping Beast make nice Viking models that I'd use if I decide to go that route. The two ranges apparently mix well and are cheap and plentiful enough to build 6 Companies including Thrydan quite easily.
Warlord Games make some pretty cool Britons, seen here:
http://store.warlordgames.co.uk/ancient-british-warriors-1348-p.asp. Unfortunately, there are several bare chests and unarmoured minis, so I'd need at least 2 boxes to make 6 Companies.
Any advice from a modeling, rules or historical standpoint would be much appreciated!
