It's not necessary, but I do think it would improve the troll considerably :)

Been working on boromir still a bit to do, this is the finecast version and ive really enjoyed painting this one its a great model, the back of the sword is lacking a bit of detail but then you would really have to look to see it, where it touches the cape

Still need to do some shading on the sheild and obviously the hair/flesh

Face is still not done at all either.

Looks good mrliz! Should look even better when the final shading has been done on the face and hair. I would love to see your Boromir and Gimli based.

The formula I use for my standard gaming bases is:

* PVA Glue spread out over the whole base.
* Apply sand, I use fine sand but whatever you prefer is good too.
* Basecoat of Scorched Brown.
* Heavily Drybrush Bleached Bone.
* Apply a couple of small spots of PVA Glue, then place a clump of static grass down. To do this I usually just grab a pinch, press down where the glue is and the tap the scraps left over off.
* Finally I apply Dark Flesh around the rim of the base.

It's a quick and easy way of basing in my opinion, and it gets the job done to an okay standard.

Hope that helps 8)

Let us know how the bases go if you do give it a try 8)

As for display cabinets, I got mine from Ikea as there's one not too far away from me and they're not bad prices either.

That is a lovely Boromir figure and a beautiful first base! (much better than mine!)

I am looking forward to seeing the finished Sam and Legolas also. :)

Fortunately basing is fairly quick and easy to do in batches :)

I love seeing based models....they just look so much more complete. You've done a good job on basing Boromir, and Sam & Legolas look promising. Can't wait to see them finished!
