A standard game is played on a 48" by 48" board, but i believe that balins tomb is meant to be played on a 24" by 24" room. But fear not, i remember reading something in white dwarf about how the MoM box is the perfect size for the balins tomb scenario, all you need to do is add a "walkway" to the edge of the box (the one that legolas uses to leap around like a monkey) I hope this helped :)

Balins tomb is 18 inches by 18 inches according to the plain in the Fellowship Of The Ring Journey book.

* I noticed in the other post you were asking about discontinued books. Most of them are obsolete. They are fun to have but not necessary to start. Start with the Fellowship Of The Ring Journey book and build your way through the book. Then add the other Journey books. By the time you have built through the first book we should know more about the Hobbit and the new books.
