When you randomly start role-playing your favorite hero/villain/race/monster/etc.. when playing Dagorhir/Amtgard/(insert boffer weapon game here).. :^)

When you charge into a cafeteria yelling "MEATS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS"
When you turn up to a fancy dress party as gandalf, only to see no-one else took the theme seriously
When your friends bet you £5 to write about lotr in an english mock exam
When your stupid enough to do the aforementioned, WITHOUT GETTING PAID
When your stupid enough to do the aforementioned in the actual exam
When you laugh at people who think that the word you chose in a game of lotr hangman is aragorn
When you make the cave troll noise at any sign of pain
When you wonder what Orlando Bloom thinks about being regarded one of the best models.... in warhammer
When you watch the fellowship with someone and they cry at gandalfs death, you feel really mischievous because he gonna come back and they don't know it!
When you have to be careful not to bring up lotr sbg when your friends are talking about lotr because you are so used to being on OR:
Friend 1: "I like faramir, i think it's cool the way his dad abuses him in favor of his older brother, just like my mom!"
Friend 2: "I like the ringwraiths because they can't die!"
You: "Nuh uh they can die, legolas can autohit them from the other side of the board and use might to.... i mean...... doesn't the blonde woman kill one?"

Buddy of mine has a wedding band made like the One Ring.

At the wedding reception he and one of my friends recreated the Isildur-chops-the-fingers-off scene but obviously without the actual chopping.

I get a few recognitions which are always nice. The highest level of comprehension has been at various game events or when I went to see the extended editions replayed in the theaters a couple months back. But also some clueless as well. If someone asks I usually tell them it's the name of Gandalf's horse from Lord of the Rings. Most people, even if they've only seen the movies casually, will recognize that description and nod. The funniest though was when my wife was driving it and a lady parking next to her asked " Should Have Faxed?" . :-P

BTW, I've seen one in the parking garage where I work that says FRDOLVS. I've only seen it parked once but we have a few facilities around and the driver may work at one of those most of the time. I managed to park across from him/her that day and they left before me so I'm sure they saw mine. Tech geeks have a higher percentage of LotR fans per capita than many other industries I believe.
