Wow, great stuff!

What paints do you use for the tanks? GW or Vallejo?

Thanks! I used GW paints, although I'm going to shift to Vallejo because I can't get their paints off Wayland games anymore. It's in 1/72 scale and although the minies I use (valient miniatures) are branded as 1/72, they are actually more closer to 26mm. So the tanks are a bit small compared to them but on the batltlefield, not much notice is taken.

Very nice stuff man, I'm just getting into the WW2 stuff now myself. Some good inspiration here for me, keep it up man. How much were the tanks by the way? & what scale?

Thanks dude. These are armorfast tanks, 7.5 quid for 2 of them in a box. Great deal, although they are 1/72 so are a bit smaller for your Warlord minies. I would recommend buying the Warlord tanks as they are a bit more bulkey and fit in with the range.

Ah they seem to have a nice range of tanks there. Could you maybe put a warlord mini next to the tank so I could get an idea of scale. If it doesn't work then I'll just go for the warlord tanks, they're very nice just quite expensive. Love your work so far btw, looking forward to seeing more!

I don't have a Warlord mini but I'll put a Warrior of Minas Tirith next to it to give you an idea of scale. I'll have the pictures up in a day or two.

28mm WWII gaming is unashamedly based around infantry combat and the addition of armoured vehicles, especially late war ones, seriously tip the balance of a game. So don't sweat about getting a Tiger or T34 on the table for a while. If you want vehicles (and who doesn't), start by using soft-skins like jeeps and trucks, and then add in a half-track or armoured car later on. It will allow you to save up a bit before buying your first Sherman or Panther tank and give your foot-sloggers a bit of mobility too.

The British Airborne in Operation Market Garden had heavily armed jeeps at their disposal, dropped alongside the paratroopers in gliders!

I traded my Flames Of War Stuff away. If you want to use tanks look at those rules. Fred substitutes one figure for one Infantry Stand when he plays with larger scale figures. He really doesn't change much.I have not seen the Warlord rules. But Rick P has not come up with a decent set of vehicle rules in 20 years. I would not hold my breath.I do like LOTR but 40K has evolved from a usable base system into silly. We used to play WWII with 54mm figures and tanks. We had to abandon the vehicle rules completely when the charts for vehicles appeared. This was just as the second addition of 40K came out. I did try to make it work but the group could not agree on charts and vehicle templates. Some of the historical players don't like FOW because they don't agree with many details. But, it does have a historical out come. The point cost and T&O are helpful even though they drive some of the historical players crazy.

The ruleset that I enjoy the most at the moment is Ambush Alley/Osprey's "Force on Force". Although it is designed for modern combat, the basic rules can be applied to WWII stuff with a bit of effort. Thankfully, the authors are working on a number of supplements for different periods: Vietnam, 1980s Cold War, and (according to rumour) World War II.

Not sure how true that rumour is though with the announcement of the Warlord Games/Osprey collaboration.
