just like title says.

I know khazad dum replaced shadowflame, but is there anything worthwhile getting both?

I have the KD sourcebook and really like it, but I don't have S&F so I can't compare the two for you.

No. :) I really don't like the lack of hobby material in the more recent sourcebooks, and Khazad-dum is one of these. All the profiles and rules can be downloaded off of GW's site, here. The army lists in the book aren't that great. It does have some interesting scenarios, but for me it just isn't worth it.

Khazad-dum does have rules for prowlers in SBg, and is the only place that tells you the auto come with throwing weapons.

I've not had the chance to look at the scenarios in SandF. What are some of the ones included in that one?

I havent actually got it, so I dont remember exactly, but the old SBG sourcebook scenarios always looked interesting and fun to play. IIRC they were mostly small fistfights and desperate escapes between the dwarves and the goblins. Someone may want to correct me on that one..8) I love the older sourcebooks even though they are outdated. I regret not getting FoTN, the painting content was really nice IMO :)

Beowolf,

S&F has 4 scenarios in Moria:
"The Eastgate" (dwarves have to stop goblins from getting reinforcements),
"Battle for Dwarrowdelf" (Balin vs Durburz),
"Mirrormere" (goblins try to assassinate Balin),
"They are coming" (last stand of the dwarves in Balins Tomb... so sad  )

also has these 3 scenarios:
"Fog on Barrowdowns" (hobbits and bombadil vs wights)
"Surrounded" (Glorfindel, Arwen and her brothers vs orcs, goblins, and trolls on a hill)
"Fangorn" (Radagast, Treebeard and Rohan riders vs Uruks)

yeah, I guess what I am asking is if the scenarios in KD are the same.

The KD scenarios are different. If no one beats me to it I'll post them tonight when I get home.

Hehe, beat you! :P :E

First one is Durin's Tower: Dragon vs. 500 points of dwarves Dragon trying to exit the tower, dwarves trying to stop him.
Second: Attack on the East Gate: 200 points dwarves vs. 150 points goblins. Whoever has the gate winch at the games end wins. Goblins have never ending tide type rule, game ending is a random roll, starting on turn 8.
Third: The Battle of Barazinbar Deeps: durin and mardin plus 750 of dwarves vs. Balrog and 600 of goblins. Total destruction is the aim, with the balrog facing off against all but twelve of the dwarves until the dwarves arrive randomly, with the rest of the goblin horde right after them!
Fourth:Ambush at the Crossroads: Balin plus 500 vs. Durburz plus 500. Kill durburz, or kill balin, reduce dwarves to 25% and have durburz alive. Goblins have unending tyde rule again.
Fifth:The Razing of High Water: 600 points dwarves vs. dragon with upgrades, 250 points goblins. Try to control more objectives. (buildings and a bridge)

Hope that helps

I would agree that it is definitely worth getting. I personally like haveing the most up to date information on things, and while it does not contain the most recent profiles (like Floi and the blackshields), it's a good resource to have - especially since it contains the legions lists in there.

thanks theavenger, and everyone else too.

Dragons in Moria? thats crazy scary
as if the billion goblins and teh balrog wasnt bad enough... Moria is like the ghetto of middle earth, you go in, someone is definitely gonna hit you on the head and take your wallet.
As much as I love elves, Im thinkin I really like dwarves too. They are kinda cute in a beardy, stubby way and I love their history so I guess Im getting KD for sure now.
