Sculpting scratch built minis is quite labour intensive and time consuming. I can definitely confirm that. But the end result is often more rewarding as you'll have a model that no-one else in the whole world has. A truly unique piece.

true but this is insane!! so many details :o at least it is almost done. his arms are shorter, and i made his face already(the worse thing)... almost....

thank you guys for all your comments!

[Edit] I think tomorrow my orc rider will be complete, all i have left to do is: finish his arms(only 50% done), both hands and hair on his head lol but that is quick 8)

Thats quite impressive Chris. Well done. I have just one question - what made you decide to put a cavalry model on an infantry size base?

well that's because i don't have cavalry bases, was not my choice, but i will convert this base to a cavalry base tomorrow

i wont paint this warg rider now. i want to paint it too much... but i think i will create another warg rider now and then i paint them, i wanna see if i'm able to create another orc rider with the right size now

Why do you need copyright? :? Erm... because it's against the law to copy without the maker's permission?

I understand that you are not selling your models and will not make a profit out of them. I know I wouldn't like it if someone copied my models without permission.

I know it's tempting, what with GW's prices in the shops, but you can still pick up good deals second hand. I would like to copy a load of GW's metal figures and cast them up as it would be a lot cheaper than buying them but it doesn't sit right with my conscience. :-X

What I would suggest is this...you've obviously got some talent...
you can sculpt, you can make moulds and you can cast. Great! Sculpt your own wargs and riders.
You'd then not be doing anything dodgy and you'd get twice the satisfaction. 8)

Amazing job on the rider, but now I'm hoping you're going to have a shot making your own wargs too! Would be wicked to see your own-built wargriders!

I used molds for the wargs only, I changed them and I add them details that the original warg I used for the molds doesn't have, so why it is a copy if its not like the original anymore?

and the orc i made it from scratch, i dont know why your speaking about the rider too but ok...

As you said the weapon isn't his best feature, but that Rider looks excellent, the detail is superb, it looks betyter than the originals imo.

Well my conscience died about 5 price rises ago. I certainly have no loyalties pledged to GW. Am I saying that I reproduce GW minis? No. But if I played WotR where hundreds of troops are required then I would certainly consider it. I know it goes on. Chris here has simply made a press mold to bolster his own personal army to make his games more enjoyable. I've seen it countless times in this forum and others were people mold shields etc and no-one ever moans about that. Now if he had a spin casting machine churning out hundreds of metal copies, passing them off as originals on ebay then I think your point would be more valid Nat. But he isn't. There's no harm being done here.

Ignore me.
I'm a legalistic, moralistic, grumpy old man who just can't get enough sleep due to having children who just won't sleep. Just don't want you getting into trouble.

I like your scratch sculpted warg rider very much and look forward to seeing more.

As said, the Rider itself is fantastic, in fact he looks impressive enough to be a Captain.

Indeed, casting and selling is one thing, but if your casting to get the base, and then sculpting more details on, and then your own custom rider, that's different. To me at least. I don't really care for GW either, so whatever. As long as you don't get in trouble and as long as you don't sell them......I want to see some more cool riders. :)
