The first archer on the right was selected to be the captain. In front of him you can see his new head, although the photo doesn't really help. Anyway, here is what I did so far. I cut his head, I replaced it and I made from greenstuff his cloak.

Really nice conversion, the fur around the top of the cloak looks excellent! Cannot wait to see him painted up! :)

Are the banner designs painted only on one side?
I think it would look better if painted on both sides. Otherwise, if the wind is blowing the banner one way, only the enemy will see the designs and the people under the banner won't be as inspired to fight.

Just a thought. Keep up the great work! :D

Unfortunately, the banner designs are painted only on one side. Wah Wing you are right. It would look better if painted on both sides for the reason you have mentioned. But, I wanted a huge flag. I was inspired from those wargame photos of 18th century scenarios. Those huge square multicolour flags but, for our game, with the addition of tails to look like Boromir's banner. Such a huge flag I had to bend it. When I painted it first and bent it afterwards the paint cracked  . When I bent it first, it was impossible to paint later the designs :? .
 One more time I was inspired from the Boromir's banner. This flag has a parallel lane with drawings next to the stick. So, I did something like that, I drew three swans to solve(?) the problem.
Sorry, I have not explained what kind of material I use to make the flags. I use something common and cheap. I use the aluminium foil, which provides the tin boxes airtightness. This one, that you can find under the plastic cover of any coffee brand mettalic box.
Here are some photos of horizontal and vertical flags:

Excellent banners which perfectly capture the simple brutality of the bearers. Well done 8)

Thanks. I will give the tunics a wash with badab black to "smooth" the difference, I hope. We will see.

I don't know why, and am probably talking bullsh^t, but somehow that commander reminds me of Willem de Zwijger, a Dutch folk hero.

I found in google about the "William the Silent". I didn't know anything about him before. Interesting historical person. About the archers now, I gave them the wash I told you. I think the difference of the colours is not such a painful to the eye as it was before. Not so much of a progress so far.

I like the commander for your archers, a simple concept but it really makes him stand out from the rest of the archers. Nice execution of the conversion too. Great job on those uruk banner bearers too 8)
