Oooh. Very nice eye's on Gamling. But somehow the metal just doesn't quite do it for me. Maybe another wash and re-highlight? To be more specific, his leg guard looks great, but the hilt of his sword, not so much. Also his silver shoulder armour and gold buckles on his shoulder strap look a little...... flat? I don't know, but they don't look as good as the leg armour. :)

I actually like him a lot, but he might be a little too blue. I would try some glazes with Spacewolf Gray or Fortress Gray. Might mellow out the blue a bit.

Brilliant work on the last few minis Dave. I love the Boromir conversions and the painting on the Bilbo conversion is great. Spooky Barrow Wight you have there, the face reminds me of the Gentlemen from Buffy... creepy looking. Nice job!

I always find the early stages of painting any mini a bit worrying - unless I am following (more or less) an established pattern or painting guide.
Then I get to the late stages and am mortally afraid of messing up somewhere... ruining whatever has already been done reasonably well.

Oh, the lack of self confidence...

Good luck with the painting comp!

I know exactly what you mean...I always get that "Ugh" feeling when looking at my models at this stage...this one is no different, but I just need to push through that barrier and all should end up well in the end. :D

I also agree with this. I once read somewhere that foresight is a miniature painters best friend and in the early / middle stages of painting a miniature I often find this word going round and round in my head ..... it'll be all right in the end. It kind of helps me get over that Ugh feeling.
Nice Glorfindel by the way Bilbo :)

Great painting so far Dave. I personally do not know what colour you could use but a rich blue or a white wouldn't look too out of place in my opinion. I really love the red, good job.

Well here is a new color scheme for my Dwarf Army, inspired by PJ's Thorin...
Think I will be sticking with this dark scheme throughout the army, but will introduce subtle colors for my leaders like Balin.

I like it !!! All of your miniatures have a dark but extremely authentic feel to them. Glad to see this thread at the top again where it belongs. 8)

They look really good Dave, once again you've used a dark colour scheme to make a mini look great.

That colour scheme looks an excellent idea, for more realistic and less cheesy than GW, looking forward to seeing more.
