Adding the brickwork really adds nicely to the final effect. Best of luck with the Osgiliath project, I will be following! :)

Nice collection, thanks for sharing. I agree with OMW, the windows look great, simply raise the floor on the inside with Balsa Wood/ polyfilla/ foam etc

Thanks everyone. Always love the kind words and encouragement. :D

Here's another update.
Adding the ruined look to the walls:

First, I wanted to add brickwork to the top of the first tier tower, before I glued down the second tier. This is what it looks like before gluing.
All the lines on the sides match up with the brickwork on the walls underneath.

Here are some pictures of progress:

And now the ruined walls and other pics:

The extra ruins above from the off cuts of the walls will be used on separate bases to represent smaller ruins.

I'm a little worried for adding the rubble-ed look to the base as it might warp the foam board. My plan is to add plaster here and there, then add dirt and rocks to represent the crumbling look. I might wait till I have a sturdy base to glue down the foam board onto before I add the rubble. Every time I go to the store they either don't have what I'm looking for, or the ones that might have it are closed early. Planning to go again tomorrow before they close, and hopefully they have something that will work.

Hope you guys like the updates. ;) Till next time.

Also, I noticed you used the statues from the Osgiliath terrain box, but I found these on eBay:
link: http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/HELM-HAMMER ... 2ebe3add44
It's up to you which ones you use ofcourse, but I really liked these statues, they would make it even more realistic, and I thought 'let's share it', so here we go. :-D
According to the eBay user, Helm is 11cm tall and the ruined statue is 5,5cm:

Thanks for that link. Just picked up a set myself. 8)

Very inspirational terrain thread Wah Wing. :yay:

Lovely building, just a suggestion but instead of actually adding rubble to the base of the builing you could base smaller bits of rubbles on a base and that would allow you to put them wherever you like in the building or even outside it, keep up the good work :)

Thanks everyone.

I got the trees at my hobby store. The pine trees came in a bag of 70 while the other bushier trees where I think in 45. Don't remember right now.

Switching projects again. :-D
Helps keep me interested and more focused. I found that if I focused on one project, I would get disinterested in the whole hobby and would go a few weeks without lifting a brush or even fighting out battles. Let's see how this tactic works out.

I put some more paint on part of my Isengard force. I put them into warbands so it's easier to batch paint.
Instead of the whole army or one at a time, it's 12 or 13 at a time. :D

So here is the force I'm working on.
Image

Leader: Saruman

Warband 1: Saruman
12 Uruk-hai Warriors- 5 shields, 6 pikes, and 1 banner

Image

Warband 2: Uruk-hai Shaman
12 Uruk-hai Warriors- 6 shields and 6 pikes

Image

Warband 3: Uruk-hai Captain-Heavy Armour and Shield
1 Isengard Troll
2 Isengard Trolls with spears
5 Uruk-hai Berserkers
4 Uruk-hai Warriors with shields

Image

Warband 4: Lurtz
4 Uruk-hai Berserkers
8 Uruk-hai Scouts with Orc Bows

Image

Total points: 1183
Model Count: 52

This army is more of what I have then what would fight well in a battle. What do you guys think? It has a fairly good amount of troops and has some hard hitters for close combat and some bows if needed.
I might have to adjust it here and there depending on what the point count is for a battle, but for now, I'll try to finish painting these guys.

I also started painting these guys. One has more than the other but it's a start.
Image
Image

And some close ups of the trolls.

The original:
Image

The Chieftain: (I guess only for WotR, so a regular troll for SBG)
Image

And another spear:
Image

The shadows in the last pic make it looks like greenery but it's not.

Hope you guys like them. I've enjoyed seeing this army grow. Now I just have to add some crossbows and others to make it complete.
Till next time.

Great Isengard force! They look very realistic! :-D
I also love your orc conversions, they look way better than GW's regular orcs!

I will make a tower like that too, so it's nice to see someone do it before you, so I can see how to do it exactly.
Really like your red colour-schemed warriors of minas tirith too!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I need to update this soon. I'll see if I can get pictures of everything that's happened so far. Trees, fake grass galore ( :D ), Hobbits on ponies, and much more! :D

@noobert: Yep. The battlements are made with a layer of foam board. The ramparts where the troops walk is pink/ blue insulation foam.

I never put an update about Legolas on here did I? Well, here it is then from last month's paint challenge.

Being away from home posed a problem with taking pictures but i made do with what I had.
I also forgot to bring my dirt along with me on the trip so the foot model has to go without a finished base till I return.

I tried to come up with a symbol for the freehand on the horse cloth thing by looking through the Free Peoples book but the only symbol I saw that would either fit the Mirkwood theme or that small space was Thranduil's spearhead with the leaf and gem. I tried to mimic that but my freehand skills are very poor quality. I couldn't even do the same design on the opposite side of the sheet!

So enough of my rambling, here is Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood.

Really liked this model. Both in sculpting and painting. I was glad my friend let me paint it up the foot model for him as it turned out much better than my first few attempts at painting Legolas. Might redo my old one since I like the colour scheme I used. I'll get photos ASAP.
Hope you enjoyed!
Comments and criticism welcome!
Till next time. :D

Oh! And if you haven't done so already, check out my blog for all of my hobby work including LotR and WH40K. :-D

More updates! :D

Let's see what we have here.

To start with, let's go with Frodo on his trusty pony.

Image

(updated version will come later)

And the other hobbits on ponies.

Image

Sharkey and Worm

Image

And now some terrain: Trees! Or some woods rather. :-D

Image
Image
Image
Image

And if you haven't spotted it already, I just purchased a Battle mat so I'm not fighting on a white table all the time. :D

Image

Some dirt for Legolas. I've finished him now but the pictures aren't edited yet. Hopefully tonight so I can update tomorrow.

Image

And an aerial view of all of Isengard

Image

I wanted to take pictures of some finished models on the new battle mat and so...

The hobbits:

Image

Ambush at the Barrow Downs

Image

Barrow-Wights:

Image

Taming Gollum:

Image

That's it for now. Just need to finish editing pictures. I've finished some Uruk-hai and Legolas, and have more paint on Frodo.
Till then I hope you've enjoyed this update. :-D
