I want to sculpt a few ents, but don't want them to look too out of place next to the GW versions. Could anyone please tell me how high the GW models are, and what size bad they're on?

Depends if you mean metal or plastic ones, because they are completely different, though both are on 60mm bases. The metal ones are about the same height as Mordor or Isengard Troll, the plastic ones are several inches taller than Treebeard, who is a head or so taller than the metal ones.

I'd say you can choose how tall you'll make 'em, all trees have a different size too, so why wouldn't ents be different in size? (:

True :) The models from the 70's and early 80's were smaller. Most of the newer models are about the same height. The photos from the old house did not have a scale so I took a quick photo. The small poorly painted ent is from Heritage about 1977, Oldman Willow about 1983 is next to the metal GW Treebeard. I made the Huron forest from Magenight and old Heritage ents.
I stopped counting at 200 ents
I hope the scale helps, good luck :!: Please post lots of WIP photos

@OLdman Willow, the 'normal' metal Ents are much smaller than Treeberad, and the 'normal' plastic current Ents are much bigger than Treebeard.

I have not built my plastic ent. UKFredybears Ents are only a little larger than Treebeard but they won't fit the 4 inch shelf. There is a photo of one of the OOP metal ents in the metal group photo on the table at the old house.

The D&D Ents are the largest I have but they are hard to get now.

I think my point is the old models are about two inches tall most of the new ones are about 4 inches tall while some of the plastic ents are 6 inches tall.
You can also make some of the small 2 inch ents blend in by adding height to the base and extending the branches like my avatar.
UKFredybears ent is taller than the D&D ent before the extensions. Treebeard on the right is a larger scale.

All of these fit on the 4 inch shelf

I was not doubting your extensive knowledge merely noting that none of the other Ents officially endorsed at the moment are the same size as Treebeard, and thus the exact size doesn't really matter, although in SBG the models height could greatly affect the outcome of the game.

May I ask what is the rockused on the scenic base in your avatar?

Pine bark painted black and dry brushed gray.

Surprising rock-like for wood. Can''t say I've seen much pine bark though. I do still hae a few rocks left for now anyway.

GW currently sell 2 ents, and both are supplied with a 60mm round base:

Treebeard is 75mm from foot to eye, and 95mm from foot to highest branch,
Plastic Ent is 93mm from foot to eye, and 120mm from foot to highest branch.

I have a little bit of experience when it comes to sculpting Ents, and if you would like some concept art by all means PM me your email address and I will send some to you.
