Oh sorry. If you count literature I'd mention Darren Shan and Terry Brooks.

However, if you want a TV show (or film) which is bloodier and gorier, look no further than Sparticus, it's the bloodiest thing I've ever seen. Though not technically fantasy, they have taken an awful lot of leeway with the legend, and thus I call it.

From the trailers, it looks like Sinbad may be too.

Hey if we're talking literature then I'm sure there are many things out there that surpasses "A Song..." on gore content and it can be as wide as your imagination allows it to be too.

I heard of Sparticus but have not seen it yet. I saw a bit of one episode with a friend and all I saw was hafl naked barbarian men running & splashing through water in slow mo jumping on each other and I looked to my friend and said that's enough change the channel, lol. Have to start the series from it's beginning, not jump into it from a slip n' slide party scene.

What I did start on netflix was Camelot, but it pales in comparison to GoT. Particularly I don't like the guy who is playing Arthur as the lead role, his portrayal of the character doesn't grasp me.

Robb Stark
Tywin Lannister
Tyrion Lannister
The "Dancing Master" of Arya
Arya Stark
The Hound.

But I've only seen the TV series, not read the books.

@Sacrilege83, I watched Camelot, I thought it was good , and was annoyed it was cancelled.

And now, I have watched 2 series of GoT, I can answer King Ondoher's question;

Tyrion Lannister
Stannis Baratheon
Ned Stark
Robb Stark
Arya Stark
Maester Cresson
Jorah Mormont
Daenerys Targarean

Jaqen H'gar is Arya's cool murder friend, not her dance teacher.

Joffrey must die!

I know but i'm pretty certain that the dance teacher is one of Jaqen's persona's, as we never see him die.

Damn it you've reminded me I have to wait until the 17th (at the earliest!) until I finally get my hands on those books!

That I ordered in March.

Re the discussion about a miniatures game: don't you think it would only work as a hero-only game, to replicate duels etc.

Also, I. The last episode of season two, Jaime tells Brienne there are 3 people who could beat him, who do you reckon these people are? I'm thinking: set barristan, knight of the flowers, and maybe stannis? Ofcourse there is a long list of people who I reckon could kick his ass: Brienne, Jon Snow, the hound?

I don't really know who Ser Barriston isd, but I didn't think Stannis or Loras Tyrell could beat Jaime.

I think the only 3 "people" who can defeat Jaime are Danny's Dragons when they reach a larger size :D

Barristan was the old knight who was fired after Robert's death, everyone revered him as the most dangerous man-at-arms in westeros. He threatened to kill Joffrey's guards when he was fired and fled.

Ah, I know who you mean now, he probably could beat Jaime.

I know the feeling, just read part 1 in 3 days, which is 2 days too much...

Damn, why couldn't I buy parts 3 and 4 while I was at it!!!

By the way, does anyone know a company who make models that could be used for the ordinary soldiers? (based on the movies if possible, if not, then so be it...).

Meh, they don't look like what you see in the movies (which I like) for one bit. But I've now settled on Perry War of the Roses for House Stark and Warlord Games Samurai for House Lannister.

No, I've been reading the official ASoIaF forums and its generally thought that he cannot be Jaqen, as Yoren (the Night's Watch recruiter) had likely met with Jaqen in the dungeons before the supposed death of syrio Forel. This is of course going by information presented in the books and not the show, and the shows producers have been taking some liberties with the story (e.g. killing off a Dothraki character despite being explicitly warned by GRRM that the character would play a very important part late in the series (the next book, Winds of Winter)) so it may pan out differently in the show.

Thats not to say that Syrio Forel is necessarily dead, or that he isn't a Faceless Man, he might be a different Faceless Man. Its just very unlikely that he is "Jaqen".

Smarter and more learned people than myself have argued back and forth over it for over a decade - goto Westeros.org to check out the theories.

Yes, I was about to suggest Perry Miniatures. Their Wars of the Roses miniatures are excellent for representing generic Westerosi troops - though conversion may be required for the Northmen as they more commonly wear leather armours, chainmail and animal furs than plate armour. Plate armour would be reserved more to the Northern nobility i.e. Knights and Lords, and they're more likely to be mounted.

Perry Miniatures also do lots of fantastic Japanese Samurai, as well as Koreans - you could get a good variety to choose from.

Wargames Factory also have new plastic sets for Japanese Samurai and Ashigaru.

Gripping Beast have several historical ranges which might be suitable, particularly late Medieval (Knights in Plate armour).

For Dothraki, any Nomadic Steppe Peoples would be useful. Huns, Mongols, etc. Though clothing must be kept to a minimum - the Dothraki Sea is a warm country so they're not going to wear layer upon layer of furs.
